Yes, but his girlfriend didn't make mention it in a thread; I was referencing whoever supplied that information in a past thread.

It was his girlfriend and his mom or sister, right?
Elloitt "I stabbed myself twice in the chest" Smith rocks.
Waterloo Sunset cover is great. Like sex.

i like elliott smith. but not hugely. i have XO and a few mp3s

robot 11-03-2005 06:55 AM

Meh, I don't see whats so great about him.

MindlessPickle 11-03-2005 02:36 PM

Eliott Smith is truly great. Only got XO, though, but after hearing so much about "Either/Or" I've been meaning that one up for a while. Too bad I'm constantly broke.

I need to be in the right mood to listen to him. I've only heard XO, and i have to say it's not the masterpiece i was expecting. Don't get me wrong, i like it, but with the praise it gets, i'm a little disappointed.

I'm going to give him another try soon, with Either/Or.

I like his self titled best. It's raw edge is something you don't see on a lot of his other albums. And ah well, if you don't like the album you at least have one of the best opening tracks ever.

Hey everyone... I just joined this forum thingy.

Anyway, yeah, I have Either/Or and Figure 8...I like Either/Or better. I also have one other song, I dunno which album it's on, but it's called Memory Lane - that's my favorite song from him. It sounds happy, but the lyrics are sad at the same time.

That's from his most recent, "From A Basement On The Hill".

Zmev 11-05-2005 03:02 PM

Yeah Elliotttttttttts pretty good.

Scuba_Steve 11-05-2005 04:12 PM

I downloaded the Basement B-Sides

wow, there is alot there that really should have been put on the CD, especially songs like Either/Or which IMO are better then some tracks that made it onto FABOTH.

also, I too didn't ever hear that whisper on kings crossing

rhinestone04 11-05-2005 08:46 PM

A lot of others who love Smith disagree, but I think Figure 8 may be his greatest album. I really like it and it has a good mix of feelings in it, and it was definately my favorite album until I got addicted to The Shins.

Damn the bit.ch for killing him and getting away with it

Shut up, he killed himself. I'm sorry your hero didn't die a glorious death, but newsflash, he didn't live a glorious life either. He died the way he lived. His girlfriend didn't kill him, he killed himself. Get over it.

You're so sure...

Do you honestly believe that he was murdered by his girlfriend? I used to believe that as well but the truth is that he got in an argument and stabbed himself in the chest. His girlfriend was very willing to co-operate with the police. Don't you think that she'd be the first person that they'd suspect? She was there at the time of death and everything.

I'm sorry to ruin the dream but it wasn't anyone killing him. He was depressed for years and ended his life. If i'm wrong, please, prove me wrong.

ToolBox 11-10-2005 12:45 AM

I finally bought XO by Elliott Smith (before I had assorted tracks.) I can safely say this is a great album.
