I'm not really a fan. At all.

italic zero 10-23-2005 07:41 PM

Not at all?

Rockafella 10-23-2005 07:45 PM

I love Bright Eyes and don't understand why so many people here despise them.

I like yours... Cursive all the way
I'm not a huge fan of Conor, but I do believe that's pretty harsh. The kid can write some pretty bitchin lyrics, his tunes are pretty developed and he certainly has skill. Guess I am a critic.

The teenage-indie-girl fanbase is rather annoying, but I'd rather a girl loving Bright Eyes than Green Day, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne or any variation thereof.
I have to make up for all the overratedness by despising him inproportionately :)

As for lyrics, lyrics are always so subjective, my gf has me read them all the time because she loves him, but none ever grab me or mean anything to me, so basically I see them as artsy trash as opposed to just trash. And his voice is terrible.

P.S. Green Day is better than any of the bands you listed by a mountain slide, and I don't even like them that much.

The Great Decay 10-23-2005 08:44 PM

Bright Eyes > Green Day. For sure.

Permanent Solution 10-23-2005 08:50 PM
Bright Eyes > Green Day. For sure.
I've yet to find a Bright Eyes song I enjoyed listening to, so I'll disagree.

The Great Decay 10-23-2005 08:52 PM

I feel the same way about Green Day. But it's all a matter of opinion, so it's all good.

FA 10-23-2005 08:55 PM

i like bright eyes, not scared to admit it..

CSD & the Soul Machines 10-23-2005 09:07 PM

I enjoy him. If someone else sang IWAIM, it would have been an outstanding album. His voice just didn't do it for me on that album, but I still enjoy very much.

homerthegreat 10-24-2005 07:29 PM

I think Bright Eyes are very good. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is probably my favourite CD of the year.

elnicky 10-24-2005 07:33 PM

Bright Eyes have some FANTASTIC songs, in a way, I feel bad some people can't admit it. I ahve to admit the guy is a dick and some of the songs range on obnixious but some of them are some of the best written modern songs around.

ldenman 10-24-2005 07:36 PM

cue all the "scene" girls....

Rockafella 10-24-2005 08:04 PM
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is probably my favourite CD of the year.
Same here. I recently made my progressive rock crazy friend buy it, but he didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did.

anotherlamenobody 10-24-2005 08:08 PM

I'm seeing them on the 10th, and Lifted is probably my favorite album ever, so yeah...I like them a little.

Mute Print 10-24-2005 08:12 PM

Bright Eyes is pretty cool I guess. I've heard a little of his music. It's alright. I'm not a huge fan though.
cue all the "scene" girls....
Cue the "stfu n00b3rt". :)

Scott Herren 10-24-2005 08:52 PM

lyrically i like that first day of my life song, but the guy is so whiney and can't really sing, so the song as a whole is less enjoyable. that and a couple other songs is really the extent of what i know of him.

bubbledeath 10-24-2005 08:54 PM

Overrated, and not so good. And that's coming from an "teenage-indie-girl" and scene and total popist.

poiuy trewq 10-24-2005 10:52 PM
I've only ever heard him on Austin City limits. And couldn't enjoy it even a tiny bit.
I like Bright Eyes but I thought that was horrible.

morrissey 10-24-2005 11:36 PM

I also hate the obsessive fans but he has a few good albums. Fevers & Mirrors is classy all around.

Digital Ash should never have been recorded.

Knives08 10-24-2005 11:36 PM

I like a few of his songs some of it sounds kinda like country music though.....

Yes...

rbv 10-24-2005 11:47 PM

His folk songs are good.

I like the songs that pack a punch but the rest suck.

morrissey 10-24-2005 11:48 PM

I really like "Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh".

I also really like your avatar.

rbv 10-24-2005 11:49 PM

heh thanks

Yeah, Fevers And Mirrors is by far his best.

elnicky 10-25-2005 06:39 AM

Yeah. I'm Wide Awake and It's Morning is pretty decent too. I have to agree 90% of Digital Ash.. is worse than terrible and for some reason he decided to tour it not I'm Wide Awake.
