I subscribe to Spin and Rolling Stone, and I read Mojo and Uncut when I see them in stores.
|
I have a subscription to Spin and Blender, but I like Spin better then Blender.
|
For myself, Spin is pretty good (Chuck Klosterman is great), and Blender can have its moments, but I guess thats pretty much it.
It's not a music magazine per se but Vice is probably the greatest fucking read ever. They just hate everything and I love it. |
The bookstore where I live usually has some good zines, but I never buy them.
|
ill pick up RS or Spin if im evre going on a trip. sometimes Revolver if for some reason their covering some of the heavier stuff i like.
|
I read local street presses. The height of them is annoying and the amount of ads is irritating, but they are free and generally better than music magazines that you pay for.
Yeah, me too. All other magazines are pretty much crap. Speaking of which... have you seen the new issue of Rave? |
I regularly read Rolling Stone.
I can't find Spin anywhere most of the time, but I read it when I can. |
Yeah, me too. All other magazines are pretty much crap.
Speaking of which... have you seen the new issue of Rave?
Yeah I saw Tapey's interview. Very cool stuff. :) |
i read Blender..its close to my opinions although its been a lil off lately.
i dont like RS cause they trashed Zeppelin back in the day and the praise Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix like they are gods gift to music. as some of you may think so i dont. Spin is also good at times. and sometimes ill pick up Revolver or Guitar World. those are the only music mags i read. who needs magazines when you got the Musician Forum*cheap plug* |
All music magazines I've ever read are garbage. Except for NME <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Everything other than classic rock sucks.
/Guitar World |

They rip the **** out of everything, it's marvelous. The style of writing is so raw and uncut, not very insightful but entertaining. |

/Guitar World
Yeah man did you get the tabs for the new Megadeth song this week? |
I'm reading a lot of Fanzines at the moment.Having a good look at what's in the underground.
|
I am downright astonished by the amount of people that would actually pay to read the drivel they print in RS and Spin.
|
Hmmm i read Mojo occasionally but (and yes i mean it) i mainly read NME. I'm not ashamed of it at all, yes they're a little "scene" but i have no problem with most of the articles and it's certainly closest to my music tastes in general.
|
The NME like Pete Doherty a little too much for my liking, that's my major qualm with them.
|

pshhh, whatever I personally think Spin is a very decent magazine and they don't hype bands up any more than any other mainstream or local 'zine. The articles are good, the reviews of albums are usually to my taste and they have great writers. RS isn't half bad either, at least when they're not talking about music. |
Yeah man did you get the tabs for the new Megadeth song this week?
Nah I only got the Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Pantera ones. |
I usually read either Uncut or Q, although lately I've kinda stopped reading Q.
|
I read NME (Sorry) every week.I can see why people hate it because it's very scene based but I mostly listen to Indie music and the NME is a Indie music magazine.I've discovered some great bands through the NME (The Libertines,Arcade Fire,The Strokes,Devendra Banhart) but also some bad ones (Bloc Party,The Bravery,Editors,The Tears).I also read Q,Kerrang,Mojo,Rock Sound,Mixmag,Rolling Stone (when I can get it) and tons of Fanzines to see what's happening in the underground.
|
The Tears are great.
|
Wait a minute, The Libertines are good but Bloc Party are bad?
/shakes head |

I don't get the hype over Bloc Party.

If NME was a good indie magazine, it would of reviewed the new Broken Social Scene album by now. Which it hasn't. |
I read Wire, which is just like Pitchfork.
|
I like Filter and Relix and Paste and Waxpoetics the best.
Relix is mainly Jam-Band oriented, so the gig reviews are usually pretty good. Waxpoetics is my favorite for layout. |
I'm shocked no one has mentioned Magnet Magazine...
|
I like NME, my bro gets it and i sometimes read it, its more mainstream Indie though.
Also Kerrang is good, my mate gets that and if i see it lying around at his house i'll have a lil gander at it. |
