Dude, you are so metal. Can you teach me how to be as cool as you?

clearvision 09-19-2005 04:16 PM
Dude, you are so metal. Can you teach me how to be as cool as you?
Yeah, listen to some mediocre metal like megadave and CoF. Get a new screan name which has references to satan, or just 666. Then slate anything that is not metal. You should do well.

Grr where is spencer, can't he just banish him?

Spence is a local, so he can't ban. I reported him in the site forum though. He should be gone soon.

To Chris:  Nice one.

*sigh*

Jim's banning him. Now back on topic.

Mute Print 09-19-2005 04:24 PM

Glad that's out of the way.

Oh, and to add to this thread, I've found that a lot of Brand New songs are very meaningful. Especially "Guernica", which Kif mentioned a few minutes ago.

Kif 09-19-2005 04:28 PM

I'd like to add Blink-182's "Stay Together For The Kids" to that list as well, for obvious reasons I'm too tired to write about

MysweetFracture 09-19-2005 06:30 PM
I listen to Dashboard Confessional once in a while, but I'm not familiar with that song.
Try that song and "screaming infidelities"- both VERY good acoustic songs. Pretty whiny, but hey- we all love it.

CrimbleVan 09-19-2005 06:32 PM

matchbook romance's "Playing For Keeps"

it applies to me at this stage in my life... missing ex, wishing he'd come back even tho hes horrible to me now, yada yada the whole she-bang

I always wanted to say that. :)

I wanted to make fun of this kid too.

I guess the songs that have touched me were some blink songs. i.e. Carousel. That was a long time ago though. I dunno any music I listen to now that really has touched me. I don't pay attention to lyrics much now.

Blink-182's "Apple Shampoo" and "Lemmings" as well as "Adam's Song".

Thrice's "The Beltsville Crucible" and "See You In The Shallows".

Flogging Molly's "If I Ever Leave This World Alive".

Brand New's "Magazines".

Plus more that I can't think of.

Yes, that's amazingly touchy.

Jamaican Me Crazy/ Scream It Until You're Coughing Up Blood - Against Me!

Really touching song about friendships and stuff.

Fire Away 09-20-2005 04:56 AM

Blink 182's Staying Together For The Kids, the whole song

And:

"And time stands still
When noone understands you
And you don't quite understand youself
But just know this that,
God is faithfull
Even when you dont have faith yourself"
-MxPx, "Tomorrow's Another Day"

And the entire song of Greed Day's 'The Grouch' is me in 15 years time.

The Descendents- Thank You (Karl Alvarez)

I listen to you for hours, I'll listen all day
Just keep hitting me the right way
Sing your song in the shower
Cause you got a way
To say what I can never say right - right on
When I feel weak you make me feel strong
Make me feel strong

I won't say your name
But you know who you are
I'll never be the same again now - no way
I just want to say
Thank you for playing the way you play

You don't get played on the radio
That's not the game you play
Well I don't care anyway
I glued your tape in the stereo
So I know every word, every note
And every chord is right - right on
When I feel weak you make me feel strong
Make me feel strong feel like nothing's wrong

I won't say your name
You know who you are
I'll never be the same again now - no way
I just want to say thank you for playing the
Way you play

Did you know you're why I go
And waste my time
At a rock and roll show
You let me know I'm not alone
You make me feel strong, make me feel strong,
Feel like nothing's wrong

I won't say your name, you know who you are
I'll never be the same again now - no way
I just want to say
Thank you for playing the way you play
Thank you for playing the way you play
Thank you for playing the way you play

There are others, but this song is simply incredible, the lyrics are so so good and personal

chumpradio 09-20-2005 05:17 AM

Guernica and Stay Together For The Kids, both songs which Kif mentioned, are the two I was going to say.
My reason for Guernica is near enough the same, and it's pretty obvious about STFTK.

Hidden in Plain View's "In Memory" is very heartfelt and pretty painful to listen to

This feeling never dies. The fever never breaks.
It shakes under your skin, and drips across your face.
It speaks to me, telling me you're terrified of this disease,
cause you look so weak. As it's ripping through your body,
it's tearing through me.

And these are your last words, "I'm sorry"
Right before my eyes, can't believe this is goodbye
Keep staring right into my eyes, and look at me for the last time

So empty but your lies are filled with apathy.
Be careful with your words to save your energy
Speak to me, cause I'm so terrified of
what's happening, so be strong for me
Because it's so easy to die, when it's so hard to breathe

To see you suffering,
Oh my god I think its killing me

And these are your last words, "I'm sorry"
Right before my eyes, can't believe this is goodbye

If this is the last time, I've never been so terrified
If this is the last time, I'll never look in your eyes

I have another song to add:

Amber Pacific - "Gone So Young"

I never dreamt it'd be this way
I lost any chance for me to say
To say that I miss you, say that I love you
Will someone please tell me I'm okay

I wasn't prepared for what's to come
A life made of memories gone so young
And now I'm regretting all I've done
But in your heart know that I'm with you all along

Wherever you go, I will be waiting
Whenever you call, I will be there
Whatever it takes, I'll make your darkest days so bright
I'm in your heart tonight

I never thought that this could go
And take me away from all I know
And leave me to think I'm on my own
But your love will take me, you were the one...

...Who sat through nights
You held me tight
And made sure I'm okay
And I thank you for the love you gave to me

Wherever you go, I will be waiting
Whenever you call, I will be there
Whatever it takes, I'll make your darkest days so bright
I'm in your heart tonight...

Tonight...

Wherever you go, I will be waiting
Whenever you call, I will be there
Whatever it takes, I'll make your darkest days so bright
Wherever you go, I will be waiting
Whenever you call, I will be there
Whatever it takes, I'll make your darkest days so bright
And if I should fall, I know you're waiting
And if I should call, I know you're there
If ever you cry just know
I'm in your heart tonight...
I'm in your heart tonight.

This song is so meaningful to me because it is about losing a loved one. I have a few family members over the last couple years, and this song means a lot because of that.
