I can't believe there is no mention of The Meters in the funk section and George Porter Jr.!

That's blasphemy!!!
Very subjective, but how is Emperor's bassist "talented to some degree"? Ihsahn writes everything! The only time Emperor's bassist impressed me was the touring bassist off of Live Emperial Ceremonies, the one with a 6er. And all he was doing was playing arpeggios.
samoth writes some stuff for emperor, such as the wanderer, and the start of ye entrancemperium was actually written by euronymous, but yes i would agree emperor bass is never the most exciting thing,

also i realise they have had loads of bassists, but could add Behemoth's bassist Orion to the list? - he is a talented guy, a guitarist too, when the songs get fast he plays with all four right hand fingers and his thumb  - anyway he's a nice guy too so put him on

and someone said rammsteind has sweet lines, let me tell them a story, this one time my band in their wisdom decided to cover links234, after looking at the tab, i tuned my bass so that i only had to play open strings in the song, i tuned my bass to the E, G, A and Bb needed to play the song, it was boring as hell too - rammstein lines are boring:thumb:

I don't know if somebody already said this but, I think Jon Berry from rufio is an amazing bassist. I learned all his riffs when I was first starting out.

Funk
Earth, Wind, and Fire

Rock
Blood, Sweat, & Tears
Electric Light Orchestra
Emerson, Lake, & Palmer

Jazz
Chuck Mangione

Bassists
John Deacon (Queen)
John McVie (Fleetwood Mac)
Charles Meeks (Chuck Mangione)

Also, Johnny Cash is considered Country, not Rock. He has never been grouped in Rock. Any music store will have his CD's in the Country Section.

You spelt Mastodon wrong. Also, you need to put Sikth (bassist James Leach) in the metal category.

Motorbreath5478 10-10-2006 04:27 PM

Holy Jesus, did you put AFI in the "Metal" section?!

Bass Patriot 11-09-2007 08:55 PM

Lovefist 08-03-2010 07:54 PM

Check out anything with Trevor Dunn!

peeted 08-09-2010 07:40 AM

Didnt spot any of these on your list:
Stanley clarke (Jazz, with a little funk and some hiphop in movie soundtracks)
Dixie Dregs (Jazz/rock)
Protest the Hero (Prog metal/screamo/tech stuff)
John mayer trio (Jazzy blues rock)

Also Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are not a funk band. They are a jazz fusion band, and thus should be listed in jazz.
