Nathan Gaunt
Hes a guitarist from Perth, WA. He has won the WAMI (west australian music industry) award for best guitarist twice and he has a really good voice too. He either plays solo or with his band the Blackeyed Dogs. the band consists of Sam Gaunt - Bass Guitar Ross Warren - Piano, Keyboards Mikey Dean-Smith - Drums & Percussion he has been playing in bars around perth for about 5 years. His music is a sort of acoustic/folk/pop stuff but there are a few blues numbers and songs songs he wrote in india. His album doesn't really do him justice as a guitar player with the execption of yatra. he is amazing live and is a really nice person he has 2 albums escape + return (2004) Circledreams (2000) and a few EPs Check out his website for some song files www.nathangaunt.com.au i don't think this little peice does him justice, you really gotta check him out |

The Berzerker
Short Bio Originally a solo DJ band entitled The Berzerker, Luke Kenny inspired to mix his speedcore beats with a death metal rhythm. Backed by Earache Records, he set out to Canada to seek help from SYL's Devin Townsend. But the results did not go in Kenny's favour. He returned home to Melbourne, with barely any bond money left. So he set up a studio in his then place of residence and proceeded to record. He recruited 3 men along the way, one of which is Sam (The Bassist) to record guitars & bass. The recording process was brutal, at times spending 10 hours perfecting a single riff. Due to the brutality and lack of experience from recording the first album, when time came for the 2nd, Luke had gained more knowledge and shortcuts to produce. Nice post Experi_metal, I've been trying to look into the Berserker for a while now. I'm looking foward to hearing some of these uploads. :)
|
Anyone else got anything by The Berserker they could upload? I'd appreciate it a lot. Also, are these they same guys who have the crazy 19beats/second drummer or something? That'd be mad to see/hear.
bump :shifty: |
sorry it took so long to get the uploads up, i been in and out of the house all day
|
I might find time this weekend to do some posts for this thread :). I just need to find enough information.

No prob, thanks for supporting this thread. Will posts thoughts on Berserker soon. EDIT: The Berserker don't seem bad at all. A lot of high tempo stuff, with that DJ influence still quite prominent. I prefer the Death stuff at the moment to, and after the first listen it sounds as though they will be a band that grows on me. :thumb: EDIT #2: I just found some more Cog stuff, that isn't available for purchase. The first is a live track from early 2002, the second is a 14 minute version of their single, 'Open Up', and the third is 'Bondi', which came from the Pseudo Demo CD (recorded on an 8 track) which was limited to 200 copies. Here you go if you want it. Yea, The New normal is a pretty amazing album, really enjoyed the whole, except for maybe Naming The Elephant, but otherwise really solid album, plus they go off live :thumb:
Suprised no one has mentioned The Butterfly Effect yet.... |
Snap to Zero
Band Members Guitar / Vocals: Sam Morrison Bass: Sebastian Bohm Drums: Sam Carpenter Heavy, groove-orientated, alternative rock music. The music revolves around spaced-out and delayed guitars, twisted chunk riffs and fat creamy bass over tight, solid drums. Hip hop tinged vocals incorporate melodies and screaming with socially, politically and spiritually aware lyrics. Snap To Zero began in 1997 by Sam Morrison. However, the current lineup has been recording, touring and rocking hard for around a year. s2z make cutting-edge, original music with wide appeal that makes people want to stand up, move and listen. realeases : Sound Operation (EP) - 1999 Beats is a Drug (CD single) - 2001 Snap to Zero (EP) - 2002 Where's Your Head At? (CD Single) - 2004 Where Is The Free World? (LP) - 2005 good tracks - Judgementality Deceive Me Hour by Hour |
Upon the first listen I didn't particularly like Naming The Elephant either. It's one of those songs that needs time to grow on you. It's like the 'Reflection' of The New Normal. /another Tool comparison
Suprised no one has mentioned The Butterfly Effect yet....
Don't worry, they will be ;) |
I dont like any Australian bands, and i'm Australian, and live in Sydney.

The Dirty Three
The Dirty Three began in Melbourne, Australia in 1992. Led by a violin and playing post-rock music, they are a truly unique band. A truly inspiring band, the lineup consists of Warren Ellis (violin), Mick Turner (guitar and bass) and Jim White (drums/percussion). All three of the band members have been in such amazing projects as "Let Love In" by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. Releases Sad And Dangerous (1994) Dirty Three (1995) Horse Stories (1996) Ocean Songs (1998) Whatever You Love, You Are (2000) She Has No Strings Apollo (2003) I'll put a song or two up tomorrow. Colditz Glider
The instrumental four-piece that is Colditz Glider comes out of Melbourne, and information on them is hard to come by on the internet. They have no official website, but I have managed to dig up an interview for you guys to give you a bit of information on them. Colditz Glider's music can only be adequately described through excessive use of pretentious metaphors, so I'm not going to try it. Instead I will settle for the inadequate description that they sound something like Mogwai on crack cocaine. Who are they? Lynden Brown - Guitar Caley Groves - Guitar Ben Hallpike - Bass Ollie Williams - Drums I cannot stress enough just how good these guys are at their instruments, if you think I'm wrong, see them live, then shut your fucking mouth. Colditz Glider's live show is something else, wow. Discography So far, Colditz have a pretty limited discography and are very early into their musical career - which I hope will be long and mind-fuckingly impressive. The story so far: 2004 - Colditz Glider EP 3" CD. 2004 - Properties Of Light CD A full length album is hopefully forthcoming this year or in 2006. Hobb's Angel of Death
Line up: Peter Hobbs - guitars/vocals Dave Frew - bass Bruno Canziani - drums Peter Hobb formed Hobb's Angel of Death in 1986. He claimed that he played pure music. Whether or not this was true, hobb's angel of death were a thrash band, similar to slayer. I thought they had broken up, and then they were at Metal For The Brain.. :x |
Last I heard I think they had just released a follow up to A Rise To Power, Tim was selling gear to fund an overseas tour and they were looking pretty good. I guess I'll look further into it.
