In short it almost killed me, the pole snapped and I slid sideways nearly being impaled by the shard of pole.

^^HORRIBLE DUDE.
Aslong as your ok now, thats the main thing:D |
I put together my own little throne. I got a flatpack for a little height-adjustable stool from Ikea (btw, it was called "Ringo" in the catalogue  )
So I set that up, got some 4" foam and a protection racket fluffy throne cover. You can sorta see it here: |
I've got a re-branded Pork Pie throne with my local store's name on it.
I don't want to get a new throne though, it takes years to build a comfy *** groove. Gotta like the way they are called thrones, makes you feel like a king. Drum chair or drum seat simply wouldn't cut. |
It would be cool to play from an egg chair.

Im getting that AAx crash, 16"? Stage/Studio?
Anyone, I'm not that bothered about buying a throne just yet, after your recommendation of them. |

i have a cheap stagg throne at the moment and its ok but i'm looking to get one that goes very high - I am 6' 4" and as you can imagine quite lanky and i find it a lot easier sitting higher so i was wondering if you guys knew of any thrones that are really high and of course good quality. I don't really have a price limit as i reckon this will be quite a sound investment. anythoughts?
Oh yea my current throne is a shade under 25 inches from floor to top of padded bit. thankyou |
http://www.massmusic.net go there and look. They have an 1-800 number. When you call ask for Andy, tell him Ken sent ya and he will take care of ya.
Way sweet. They're not far from me. That oughta be cool. Thanks! :thumb: |
God, I still have this old stool for a throne.. I really, REALLY want to get a nice RnS, but I also need to pay off the DWs.
http://img102.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img102&image=lup0hb.jpg That's my quite unpleasant 'throne' =/
I love how youve got this amazing kit covered in cymbals then youve got that ghetto throne thats taped. |
I'm looking to buy a new throne, in the $100-$150ish range.. A few friends of mine recommended that I get the Pearl Roadster throne (and i'll make them let me go to their houses to try it out hehe). Is this a good choice? Also, I see that they make a short Roadster, and i'm pretty short (I'm 5'3) so would this be a good idea?
thanks for helping a noob out :p |

I personally don't see high tech thrones being important, unless you play on a massive kit, on a gig that lasts all day. Then maybe I would invest in a backrest.

NICE Gibraltar "Prism" series throne. Gibraltar actually makes Roc'n'Soc, and these thrones are basically the round versions of the R'n'S. The don't come with backrests, but it's my favorite throne for under $100 (it was a STEAL at $75 brand new.) Wonderfully comfortable throne, very comfortable (sporting like six inches of padding.) |
I would REALLY like to see the rest of that set.
Judging from the lugs, its either DW or Pacific, but I'm thinking its Pacific. Either way, I would like to see it. |

Well, I guess you wouldn't need a quality throne if you only played for 30 minutes to an hour a day. If your playing shows or on a kit for 20 hours plus a week I would suggest investing in a quality throne. |

Fuzzydrummer plays DW. Pacifics lugs are oval rather than round. |
^^ It's a DW,NIIIIICE set. :thumb:
I still have this crap Westbury one I got with my first kit! It's so horrible, the way you adjust the height is by putting a screw through one of the few terribly spaced out holes on the tube (which offer the worst heights you could ever want, very little choice too) and then having it rest out the sides of the tube to stop it from sliding all the way down. The design is so crappy, the top of the throne isn't even close to a snug fit, so it wobbles, the leather smells like grease, the leg brackets are weak as hell and to top it all off the cushyness is next to nothing. I'm definately in the market for a new throne.
Same here, does yours make a horrible grinding/squeaking noise if you move the slightest bit? :upset: |

I still want to see it. Yeah...but they ARE really similar. |

Actually I do play alot, I think its just coz I only weigh 60kg. I have a decent enough Premier throne. |
^^ It's a DW,NIIIIICE set. :thumb:
