The tone is one of the most important features of music! Its one of the first things you hear in every piece of music, you dont hear the melody, chord progression or anything straight away, the tone of an instrument can make a hell of a difference.
Its like if you practise hearing intervals by ear, with a piano sound you can get them all right, once you change the timbre of the instrument your hearing totally fucks up, and gets confused. Thats the impact of different tones. You have the right to disagree and I see what your saying. But all my tutors on my bass course at uni are always flaming people if they dont have the right tone for a song, and them being pro's I'd go with them, seeing as theyre doing what we want to do. lol Jas
Read my post. I said that not a LOT of tones are ussualy needed, and most pros (I mentioned pros because I'm replying to your post) just use one tone which works best for them. |
Heres something I'd really need an answer to a question How's the NECK I mean I played the Precision Delux and my god I loved it it was so niice and the neck o it was heaven. Butttt i heard the BTB was nice and i played a BTB400 and it was sooo nice so I was wondering how a prestige would be so How's the fee of the necks in comparison does it feel nice like the fenders .
Also are the sides all sanded and nice like the fenders if so the btb is for meee |
I prefer precision necks to jazz necks... So...

Go with the P.

Just a word of advice: all this "well, it's good enough for ____________, it must be good" bullshiit is getting on my nerves.
If things sold because of quality, jaco would outsell Blink 182. However, people associate fender with "good" before tey develop themselves as a player (nowadays). This means that when it comes time for a different bass, they're used to that fender feel and sound. |
I agree. But threads like this get on my nerves, becasue everyone is gonna have their favourite... So what do you get out of a thread like this. You should be out trying different basses, not buying them online! :thumb:
Dude... his name is sk8terguy.
For him....: Teh P Bass.
AHHH I know it's what anybody would think but its soo old it's all I could think of I play Rock as in < Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin,CCR,Jimi Hendrix,Living Colour,Ozzy Osbourne (solo band blizzard of ozz the ultimate sin etc) and I also like Jazz like Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clark,I don't really like Wooten, not doubting his talents he is great, but I dont dig. Just letting you know my musical tastes for an informed decision. But i do like the P-bass alot it was nicer than anything ive played. I havent played the prestige btb and i want no regrets when buying something |
I just recently placed an order for an 8-string Conklin, and as I have about a 9 - 12 month wait...I got a little impatient. I walked into my local music store and saw this Ibanez BTB406QM, played it for about an hour, and wound up walking out the store with it.
If some one who normaly orders custom basses likes them enough to play one and buy one on the spot like that they have to be killer basses, just imagine buying the next step up
