whats a nice cheap crash that has a nice punch to it and has a nice big crash at the same time??? and is good for live gigs
|
Well for xmas I got a 16' A Custom Crash...regular.
I put it up and well, its to bright for my tastes. My other crash is a z custom medium. What do you guys recommend me to get instead of the 16' A custom? Preferably a zildjian in the a custom line...or something that is good for rock/punk music. btw all my other cymbals are A Customs (a custom mastersound hats...a custom ping ride) EDIT: I want a bright cymbal...but not tooo bright like that A Custom. Any K cymbals cuz those are SWEET :naughty:
You have Z Customs and your complaining about an A Custom 16" crash being too bright? Look at some A's, maybe a medium thin or medium crash. |

18" Sabian PRO Crash. (not the Sonix Model) |

Look at some A's, maybe a medium thin or medium crash.
lol i know...but it just sounded wierd for some reason. even my mom was like ewww. didnt go at all with set. i'll look into the mediums. any more suggestions? |
Hmm I have the same cymbal and its great. K's are darker than A's or A Customs, but sitll have a look at perhaps the K Custom Fast crashes.
|
if he has Z's in his setup, my guess is that any form of Fast crash is too thin for his playing.
|
Lookin' for some good hats to play metal or rock with. Sabian is my brand of choice, but Paiste is good too. I will settle for Zildjian if I can't find anything from the last two companies.
Ok I got $150 from Christmas. I need a ride and or hi hats. I no I can only get one though. I am looking for good quality warm sounding hats. Somthing Bonham sounding. Or a nice ride that doesnt have to many overtones but just enough to crash on. Please help.
If you want a ride with not too many overtones go for aa metal x but you might get sick of the sound after a while for warm sounding hats paiste innovations |

Zildjian is just as good as Sabian or Paiste. Good rock/metal hats: Sabian AAX Metal-X Hats Sabian AA Rock Hats Zildjian A Rock Hats Zildjian A Custom Projection Hats Zildjian K/Z Dynobeats Paiste Signature Sound-Edge Hihats Most or all of these should be available in 13" or 14" sizes, even 15" if you're so inclined. |
Definetly, Zildjian A custom 16" crash, they sound great, and sound better as they get older.

14" AAX Stage Hats. Best allaround pairing Ever |
any other suggestions?
|
14" AA Regular Hats. Maybe The Sizzles as well.
|
how are the zildjian k/z dyno beat hats? i think justin foley from killswitch uses them and they sound pretty good.
p.s. thanks for the new thread. |
14" AA Regular Hats. Maybe The Sizzles as well.
Those are just great all-around hats. But maybe you know some Sabian hats that are a little more "rock-ish"? I don't know their catalogue that well. |
Just found a set of Paiste 2002 14" Heavy hats. I can't wait until I get em. Do you think they will be good for rock and metal?
|
I'm probably gonna order my Sabian XS20 rock ride from midwestpercussion.com. It looks like the only place that carries it under $100. What are the best online stores for cymbals and drum stuff?

You might wanna check www.massmusic.net or www.musiciansfriend.com.

Yep, should be great for rock. |
I was thinking of buying a Paiste 20 inch Rude Ride cymbal. Can someone describe what it sounds like, volume ect.......

Hell yeah! Got some for Christmas, I can use them for anything. I love them so. |
are saluda splashes any good?
|
k my crashes i plan to get real soon are 16 and 18 aax plosions and im wondering what would be a good ride size of 20 inches along the sabian line that would crash nice along with my 18 that has a nice bell and good enough ping thats versatile.
|
i certainly wouldnt advise buying those Xplosion crashes as your only 2 crashes. they arent really all that versatile.
as for a ride, AA medium Rides crash nicely. |
I posted this as a new thread, but they want me to post it in here. So im lookin for splash cymbal, i guess something to go with my a customs.
|
yeah A customs are great! and no saluda splashes are terrible, i hate them
|

the AAX splash.. i dunno if thats the real name.. i think its 10"
|
Are you sure? They seem like versatile crashes to me. They're medium-thin, which is a good weight for crashes in my opinion.
oh yeah, the weight is perfect, but the sound is far too fast and punchy. suppose you wanted to have some continuous crashing in a groove.....they would not be very good at all. look into a 16" AAX Stage Crash, and 18" AA Medium Crash.....that is most definatly the most versatile combo in my eyes. |
mmm... 16" AAX stage crash... beautiful cymbal... soon to have one of my own:)
