Cort Curbow 5 String

SlapHappySunshine 12-23-2004 03:49 PM

Since I'll be getting one soon I'd say a Ibanez SR 3005 ESOL.

bastardsloth 12-23-2004 04:05 PM

Will the Luthite make my bass' tone synthesizeresque?

Penaltyplaybass 12-23-2004 06:28 PM

Im gettin a music man SUB 5, when i get 700 dollars

mathiticus 03-23-2005 03:29 AM

used bass value

Im not really looking to get a new bass, but i was wondering if anybody could help me find what my bass is worth of i choose to sell it. I have a fernandes five string fretless made in Japan, FGI active pickups and lots of other goodies. i think it is an APB or an SPB model, i really dont know. ive looked everywhere to find out how much its worth but i cant find anything.

Khanzo 03-23-2005 03:47 AM

i say, save up for a winters custom, even though you most likely wont,

Alma 03-23-2005 03:47 AM

curbow 6, not much more than the 5 for one string.

national_chaos_jolliffe 03-23-2005 03:49 AM

i would those a OLP mmr-3

it is nice!!!

MiniBassist 03-23-2005 04:41 AM

As no-one else has said it

IBANEZ BTB 405QM!!!!

I'm sorry i just love my bass. And no synthesised materials won't make your bass sound like a synthesiser it'll just feel different to play and sound less... err... "woody" than you should be used to. But i say go for the BTB.

:chug:

fltlnbassist 03-23-2005 05:43 AM
Will the Luthite make my bass' tone synthesizeresque?
NO no no, its a synthetic material, not a synthesizer material. The Curbow sounds like a traditional bass it just has some modern building components.

i just registered and it wouldnt let me

jamesr 03-23-2005 11:01 AM
fender make a 5 string, i reckon that would be fair sweet, i had to settle for a REAL cheap one with crappy sounding humbuckers and a weak neck (its bowed toward the B) anyway, i think if you want to play a 5er if you play slap it might take awhile to get adjusted, but if you can get a descent sounding one it will advance your playing a fair bit
Fender 5 strings are terrible. The squires and mexs have uncomfortable necks, and the b's sound bad. The American ones aren't terrible, the b's sound better since they are string through, but the necks are still uncomfortable. The American 5 strings play the same as basses that are half the price.

My opinion

4 string - fender,musicman,g&l
5 string - warwick, yamaha, ibanez, spector
6 string - yamaha, warwick
7 string - conklin

Just from what I have played at local shops, and guitar center over the years

blue_collar_tweaker 03-23-2005 11:10 AM

After 6 months of playing a 4 string, i bought a 5 string but quickly found that i needed to upgrade to a 6

Radiobass81 03-23-2005 11:59 AM

Good luck saving up :thumb:

coddingtown 03-23-2005 12:10 PM

Warwick Streamer stage II :P

I have a Spector Euro LX 4 string, and their 5 strings are awesome.

Im starting to want a warwick dolphin...

LedZeppFan83 03-23-2005 12:11 PM

Neither..........

Why would you settle for a five-string when you can get a string-string bass guitar, like the bassist for "Los Lonley Boys."

Because some people prefer 5 strings.

I own a 6er, but I dont play it often anymore.

Going by your logic, your next bass will be a 14 string? Why settle for 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, or 13?
