Is there a greatest hits or compliation album out there for Rage?
|
There's the live at san francisco grand auditorium which has songs off their various albums, but is not really a compilation.
Other than that, I've never heard of any. |

Yeah, kickass song. Anyone see them playing it live in Mexico City? God I wish I was there. The crowd was going craazy, I've never seen anything like it. |
sounds totally bodacious
|
i only saw Freedom. Zach got so emotional...yeah it woulda been sweet to be there.
|
I don't think I've seen the live Mexico know your enemy, but whenever they played it live they always seemed to slow it way down
|

Probably for the crowd's headbanging pleasure :p Idk, it's true that it was a few bpm slower, but it seemed ok anyway. I don't like when they play Killing in the name live though, it's always sounded bad to me, especially the Woodstock performance. The only cool part was when they burned the flag :p |
Yeah, kickass song.

To me it jsut seemed to drag, and Tom looked pretty silly in the one I saw giving it everything he had when the sog was going so damn slow :p Actually I haven't seen that much live rage stuff. I think I'll go downlaod some right now |
S-T is by far the best. If it only came with "Killin In tha Name Of" it would still be my favorite. I love that song.
Killing In The Name Of is the second track on the self-titled album....which is their best album. |
Awesome band. The self-titled album is my favourite too but I love so many songs by them...The only thing I don't like is that they repeat the riffs so much. Pistol Grip Pump would be a great example, so they repeat themselves too much but I can't stop loving them
|
^^
I think he was saying that s/t would still be his favourite even if it only came with Killing In The Name. And for the name of the song see DonMancini's mini-rant EDIT: to mattlewis53 |
Self titled hands down.....then Evil Empire then Renegades.......and Battle of Los Angeles shouldn't of been released
|
man i still dont understand how in gods name he does that i see him flickin his switch and stuff its so bad a s s
|
Testify! See it live it's awesome
|
I've only recently started liking RATM and my favorite songs have to be: Killing in the name of, Bomb Track, and No shelter. All wicked songs.
|
Self Titled is my favourite, but I really like Battle of Los Angles. Evil Empires pretty good too, but the only song that I like on Renegades is Renegades of Funk.
I do, however think that Tom Morello is a bit overrated. I mean hes good, but he mainly uses pedals and plays on one string something like 5555-2222-4444. People here on MX make fun of Kirk Hammet for using his wah pedals, but with Tom Morello, they worship him. And in my opinion, his best solo is on Like a Stone, by Audioslave, because that seems to flow well. His best riff, in my opinion is Guerilla Radio, which is classic. |
Morello can shred. But chooses to create abstract solos instead which is why people admire him. When Hammett wah's you almost get the feeling that he is doing it becuase it's the done thing in guitar playing, and his wah is just slapped on top of an E minor pent. solo. Morello uses his wah creatively and in different instances which is why people like it.....well, at least that's what I think :p
Why did Zach leave again? I heard that it was because he realized that he was preaching people to revolt, and yet he had an army of fans ready to do anything he wanted them to do, and that went against his morals.
Zach left because he felt as though the band wasn't accomplishing as much as it could. For example, Mumia Abu Jamal is still in prison. Zach supported the Zapatista movement which is the uprising of militants in Mexico over lost land due to infringement of Constitution rights. As for Rage reuniting, Morello is still quite active in political action and we all know how Zach always was fuelled by hipocrisy and political injustice. I'm not saying it's an impossibility, however unlikely. But seeing how much Morello assists other artists, I'm not surprised if Morello and de la Rocha reunite within 5 or 10 years. I'm going to say that Rage's self titled album was the best. It was heavier and more charged than any other album, although BoLA was a good result after Evil Empire. Renegades was a cover album of influences. I'd say it's fine, especially the cover of "The Ghost of Tom Joad", originally by Springsteen. Morello's guitar work never ceases to amaze me. Tom's best solo, I'd say, is probably the "Bullet in the Head" solo. The "Darkness" solo is nice and jazzy, though. Very nice work either way. Tom does use primarily 99999 88888 77777 solos, but he uses effects so heavily that you can't tab a thing 100% accurate on their later songs. He is, however, quite capable of more than just 999999 888888 77777777. I think Timmy C. is probably one of the most underrated bassists around. The opening on "Calm Like a Bomb" is very nice and smooth, similar to a verse of chorus by Flea of RHCP. "Bombtrack" has a great opening. Flea gets all the credit for awesomeness, but Tim deserves more than a few "Good work" critiques. I think Hammet is overrated as guitarists go. I rarely hear any emotion from his solos. It's like a machine is playing them. Fast, yes, but it's too **** cold for me to care. My opinions are my own, however. The live DVDs are worth the money. |

s/t is my favorite, closely followed by evil empire. i didn't like BOLS as much as the first two however.
