My school has "Anthology" (the book). Its pretty cool.
|
I would buy but it like $80.
I need to find it used. |
"Yesterday" was one of the first songs I learnt to play on guitar.
Hide your love away is a great song... |
Well, I saw the poll about the "best beatles album," and it got me thinking. We have all these threads about all sorts of great bands, but there's no thread just for talking about The Beatles. So, I decided to make one. Talk about The Beatles, their solo careers, anything to do with The Beatles in here. As a starter question, what are peoples preferences: Let it Be or Let it Be Naked? I personally prefer Naked, I think its more polished, and I think The Beatles were more of a studio band then live band.
They are both good i wish they hadn't taken off Dig it and Maggie Mae. But i love that version of Across the Universe |
^Would happen to be the Anthology DVD set? Because I own it, and it's great.
Yes I love it, Especially the bonus disk of them hanging out and playing together |
the sad thing to me is that people dont listen to them the beatles are my personal favorite band and im 16 so you got people with rap and all that hardcore crap and i got The Beatles another thing is i think people only think about "i wanna hold your hand" but if they gave "helter skelter" a listen they might think differently beatles are the best and Strawberry Fields Forever is the greatest song of all time
|
I prefer every song off the White Album, it's all brilliance to me. Especially Mother Nature's Son and I'm So Tired.
Everything off Abbey Road is amazing. Ruber Soul, MMT, Revolver, I basically have 'em all.
i have every beatle cd Rubber Soul is the best nowhere man and in my life...can't beat it |
my favourite lyrics are probably Across The Universe.
My i have too many favourite songs to name. but i really like the whole sgt peppers album. |

I own the anthology. Tis great.
|
How does everbody feel about Revolver because it hasnt been mentioned at all.
I really like it. I think Taxman has an incredible groove to it.:) |
Agreed, he had the best Beatles solo career.
I don't know, man, I always dug Lennon's stuff more than any. Paul was pretty good too. I think Paul went with the Godly band where everybody was good at any instrument they picked-up while it seemed like Lennon went to bare essentials, just plain song-writing. George definitly DID show his fancy guitar work (which is under-rated in and out of The Beatles) on his solo albums. Ringo.......yeah. |
Oh, sorry to double post, but Revolver, I think, really showed each individual song-writing member's own style that they developed into after the break-up. It sounds weird, but think about it.....
McCartney's songs were the high-produced rompy sort of pop/rock. George's songs were few, but each one showed either a snappy feel or a sarcastic feel to it. Lennon's songs were psych, and more on the edge of simpliscity, really focusing on the song-writing. Just an idea I had. Good album. |
i think my fave album is a hard days night. i dont know why. i've listened to some of their old and some of their new, and that album just seems so cool.
i think my fave song is either a day in the life, or day tripper, but theres too many good songs and albums to pick one in my opinion. |
Across The Universe has amazing lyrics.
|
The thing I like best about the Beatles is that they never really wrote a bad song. All of their recordings were either good or great.
|
I'm sure they have a few bad songs. I just can't think of any :amaze:
|
Het Jude is doing well in the songs poll :)
That's such an awesome song. |
I dont think it's that great, just another McCartney shell out. It was originally supposed to be called Hey Jules, named after Lennon's son Julian.
|

I love the beatles. George Harrison had an awesome solo career.
*sings "ive got my mind set on you"* |
I don't think Ringo is given enough credit. He was a pretty **** good drummer, was key to getting the band into the international spotlight, and even had his fair share of hits, both with the Beatles and after they broke up.
|
I personally think that the beatles are over rated. They may have started this whole rockl and roll thing (did they) but i never found theere music appealing or pleasent to listen to, Just an opinion
|
are you kidding me? the Beatles are the group that inspired me to get really serious about playing guitar!
|

oooo... a rebel. |

He wasn't a good drummer. But he was witty and entertaining and the beatles weren't about drums anyways. |
Thats why you don't hear from him anymore.

I once found a quote by Ringo that when he heard another drummer he realized that he was no good....but I think he was just being too hard on himself. plus, the Beatles wouldnt have been the Beatles without Ringo(in my opinion). |

I'll admit he wasn't anything amazing, but it's hard to argue with the success the beatles had only after he joined. |
Thats why you don't hear from him anymore.
I hear from him on Thomas the Tank Engine. Did you know he is the voice for the conducter???:) |
