Thanks for the reply.
I think they call it - Bar Type pickups and it seems like its not based on per string configuration like the ones with pole pieces.
The main reason I got myself into this trouble is because Im a guitar player who likes playing bass from time to time.
I use a pick for playing bass so the distance between the strings of a regular 4 string does not work for me...
Pls help...
Im willing to spend on those "bar type" pickups but is it really not configured per string? like the traditional type?
Thanks
It'd be better to create a thread for this outside of this Beginner Resources thread.

I'm confused as to your question, but I'll try my best to provide information that hopefully answers some of this.

"Rail" pickups are pickups that use a bar magnet instead of individual pole pieces. That will help make your search easier.

Truth be told, unless you had very small pole pieces and separated them quite far, the magnetic field will be large enough and responsive enough to make it a moot point that your strings don't line up with the pickup poles. Alnico, Ceramic, and Neodymium pickup magnets are very strong. I'd wait to see if you are having output issues before spending the money on new pickup(s).

In order to get the strings close enough together, you will need to either modify a guitar bridge to allow for bass strings, or you will need to buy a new bridge that has adjustable string spacing (like Kahler bridges).
