billy talent > sum41
No fucking way.

Billy Talent is the most terrible sounding band I've ever heard.

Their singer seriously sounds like hes being eaten by a grizzly bear while he sings.....its awful.

billy talent is pretty good, i didn't say that they were like the next at the drive-in...and besides, sum41's not that great either

TheBassicBassist 10-21-2004 08:53 PM

whoa, whoa, if we're gonna be bringing down Sum 41 then lets change the subject. I'm sure Billy Talent isn't too bad.

stke22 10-21-2004 09:10 PM

Billy Talent are quite good. But for me, always:
Sum 41 > Billy Talent

They released more albums than them, too.

PDWAB 10-21-2004 09:11 PM

Billy Talent takes some getting used to.

TheBassicBassist 10-21-2004 09:38 PM

dude, PDWAD, who is that in your avatar, it drives me nuts, yet i love it, its so weird

It's a matter of taste. I think he's amazing.

Really cool live too.

Maybe its a matter of taste, but....his voice is still awful, I dont understand how anyone can say he has a good singing voice....it makes me want to give a cigarette to a baby.

Permanent Solution 10-21-2004 11:12 PM

I thought the same thing about Cedric for about a week...let it sink in.

stke22 10-21-2004 11:23 PM

The only song where Ben has a good voice would be in "Nothing To Lose".

TheBassicBassist 10-22-2004 07:49 AM

guys this is the official SUM 41 thread, if you want to talk about billy talent please open a new thread

radianteclipse 10-22-2004 10:56 AM

I couldn't really stand Sum 41 in the least for the longest time, but with the release of their new album...I have become very very impressed. I enjoy the new almost metal like approach they took on Chuck...it's something else. And the soloes in the Bitter End...wow...I had to check and make sure I was still listening to Sum 41. It's a pop punk band with talent....who knew it was possible.

Agent_Orange 10-22-2004 11:24 AM
FIRST GAME!!!

Name 5 Sum 41 songs with more than 20 second solos.
All of them you retard!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The older ones any way

stke22 10-22-2004 04:13 PM

ok... here's an easy one. Name all of Sum 41's songs where the whole band takes on the lyrics.

ClayTheJ 10-22-2004 04:19 PM

Uh, I think motivation has all of them singing, I didn't really listen to the songs back then, but I think in the video it showed all of them singing

BridgeToSolace 10-22-2004 04:20 PM
Maybe its a matter of taste, but....his voice is still awful, I dont understand how anyone can say he has a good singing voice....it makes me want to give a cigarette to a baby.
I think he's a great singer.

Some people like Claudio from Coheed, I think his voice is terrible.

Some people don't like Monday In London's singer, I think he's one the best in music.

It's a matter of taste.

ClayTheJ 10-22-2004 04:34 PM

Thank you Bleed the Sky, now against you i think Claugio has a good voice for the music they play, its a matter of opinion, and Deryck sings so it will fit their music

BridgeToSolace 10-22-2004 04:41 PM

I do like Deryck's voice.

It's not like it's anything special or anything, it just fits really well.

And the drummer in "Thanks For Nothing" sounds quite cool.

Deryck 10-22-2004 06:04 PM

To TheBassicBassist: yes, in part i did.

Billy Talent are just a great band.

And, i think it doesnīt exist a Sumīs song where they all sing, cause Cone doesnīt sing in anyone, maybe Nothing on my back, but Stevo doesnīt sing it...

4stringslap23 10-22-2004 07:07 PM

^ yeah Cone never sings on the albums, but he'll do backup live. Anyway, i haven't been a huge fan of sum 41 until recently. i just couldn't get into all killer, but now with the new single and hearing stuff from DTLI, i really like them again. which cd would you suggest to get first, DTLI or Chuck?

TheBassicBassist 10-22-2004 08:11 PM
which cd would you suggest to get first, DTLI or Chuck?
I would get Chuck first, and DTLI second out of the two, but I don't think there's really any reason to get one before the other

TheBassicBassist 10-23-2004 06:27 AM

yeah, I think cone only does background vox in one song, and I believe its at the same time as Dave. Steve only does lyrics in Fat Lip, Thanks For Nothing, Pain For Plessure, WWVII part 2, Reign In Pain (Heavy Metal Jamboree) that I have heard or can think of right now, and I don't think cone does background in any of them

Deryck 10-23-2004 01:08 PM
which cd would you suggest to get first, DTLI or Chuck?
If you really mind the order, you should get first Half Hour of Power. You can hear the teeny lousy voice of Deryck but itīs a GREAT album.

TheBassicBassist 10-23-2004 05:14 PM

yeah if I was choosing from all four albums I would have to go for HHOP first, I got AKNF first though, not my choice, it was just the first one I could get ahold of. But of the two that the question was asked about, my previous answere remains the same.

TheBassicBassist 10-24-2004 07:03 AM

Does anyone know what a mellotron is? I can't figure it out, and I've never heard of it before. If you don't have the new album yet, it says: Biz - sings, piano, keyboards, and mellotron.

Untitled 10-24-2004 07:09 AM

No idea, but on the bottom of page, it says "this album is dedicated to our friend Chuck Pelleiter." and goes on about how he saved them though, i only just noticed, so it deffintely named after him.

Chuck, That was a ritious thing man.
