I love TWNAH, "promises" and "burning bridges" are two of my favoutite Megadeth tracks ever. This comming from someone whos been a fan for 8 years and seen the band 3 times. Very impressive album overall, i enjoyed it as well as the tour. Some of Dave's "conversation" parts like on "1000 X-goodbye" is a little hard to handle but overall i can take it preety well.
and yes, Captice Honuor is a good track but the album has far better tracks like "archeitechre of agression" "forclosure of a dream" and "ashes in your mouth". |
YES!!!!
A Megadeth thread, great. They better tour, and i hope they come to australia so i can see them. they are the greatest. |
Am I the only one here who doesn't hate Megadeth's later albums. Countdown has some great songs and She-Wolf from Cryptic Writings is a good catchy song. It's not all thrashy and stuff but still good IMO.

*bump*

I hope Megadeth tours, i gotta see them live. My favorite Megadeth album is Rust in Peace, and me fav song is Holy Wars. Peace Sells is also an amazing album.
Found a link for the why Megadeth sucks lately thing. http://www.roadrun.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=24538
I still cant believe what I read on there. There's sooo much **** that happens that we dont even know about. Hopefully, everything will turn out OK. |
I know, and sometimes I prefer not to know it. It made a part of me not like Friedman.
|
I am glad they are finally getting a guitarist
|

I hear ya. How the hell would Friedman want to be more alternative when the guy can rip solos as good as anyone? It just doesnt make sense to me at all, he was in a speed metal band before Megadeth, and then was part of arguably the best album ever created in Rust in Peace  |
I know, just crazy!

i like their later albums more than the early work as well, even though their first album is my favourite...well, tied with Cryptic Writings. Dave's songwriting talent got much more progressive and i can not wait to hear what hes done with this one. |
What would you recommend, Cryptic Writings, Countdown to Extinction, or Youthenasia?

Countdown to Extinction Criptic Writings Youthanasia in that order |
What would you recommend, Cryptic Writings, Countdown to Extinction, or Youthenasia?
Yes, any of those three are phemonial. Cryptic Writings is probley the best mainstream metal album ever made, the riffs are fantastic, great leads, and menza rips the drum kit appart. I think this has Dave's best song writing in his whole career. This album really explores every type of Megadeth song immaginable. Key tracks are: she-wolf, trust, and disintegrators Countdown to Extinction- basically like their version of "the black album" really really heavy stuff but less thrashy and more polished songs. Dave has alot of Megadeth anthems on here like "forclosure of a dream" "skin o' my teeth" and "ashes in your mouth", defiently a favourite of fans of older and newer Megadeth. Youthinasia- just overall a very impressive and fun album to listne to. Kicks off with three of the best Megadeth songs in existance "reckoning day" "train of consequences" and "addicted to chaos". the album lags a litte bit in the middle with some weaker tracks (blood of heros, killing road, etc...) which i still like alot but they arnt my favourites, it does pick back up with the title track and "i thought i knew it all"...definetly worth buying next time you see it, ive been enjoying this album for close to a decade and still love it. |
ok I'll see what I come across first.
|
you cant go wrong with any three of them really. i think their 90's albums have better replay value than their early thrasy album simply because i am in the mood for them more and the songs are more fun to sing along to. All Megadeth is fantastic, just i like their more polished sound to their early sound.

Wow, Frail is the first person I've ever heard that likes "promises". It's a great song. |
megadeth is one of my favorite bands
and its a **** shame that they would and will never do any gigs with my other favorite band metallica, cause mustaine was with them and they fired him after driving from san fran to NYC and once there, they fired him and left hime there so theres always been the fire of hate between him and hetfield regardless, theyre both amazing bands |
Actually they're supposed to have buried the hatchet, but a tour is a bit unlikely.

All are extremely good albums! Cryptic writings is very mainstreem, but in a good way though. My favourite track would have to be "have cool will travel". Its chorus is great, not heavey or anything though, but its got a great melody and chord progression. She-wolf is ok, but the version the do on rude awakening with the guitar solos/drum solo is 10 times better! Over all the album has very few tracks that are hard to listen too (allthough i hate mastermind!) Countdown to extinction - perhaps my favourite Megadeth album (apart from RIP) RIP is awsome, but i always skip dawn petrol, were as Countdown has no track that i feel the need to skip. My fav tracks r, symphony of distruction (obviously) ashes in your mouth, coundown to extinction (how good, yet simple is the solo!) and.....all of them! :thumb: Youthanasia is awsome! Reconing day is one of my favourite megadeth tracks of all time, and A tout le monde - has any metal band written a better ballad? (maybe megadeth with promises??) 1 thing that anoys me about the album though, is that the drums at the start of addicted to chaos remind me of the drums in the Anthrax song "only" get countdown and youthanasia before cryptic writings. |

I think it shows alot of character in a metal musician like Mustaine to write a song like "promises" and have it turn out as wonderfully as it did. I love the orchestration, his lyrics are astonishing!, and Pirtelli's lead is one of the most fitting ive heard in the bands catalogue. Its a shame when people cant enjoy a well written song simply like "promises". |

promises is awsome! i love the lead section too, infact the whole song is pretty well flawless. I dont belive that anyone could not enjoy promises, its probly the best track off the album, (i like disconnect, 1000 times good by return to the hanger and dread and the fugative mind alot too). The start always reminds me of the start of "no leaf clover" by metallica, but promises is a much better song than no leaf clover is anyway! |
i dont realyl know y, but my favorite album is Youthanasia, and i really enjoy RISK
true, except I think CTE is much better than the Black album... No one has mentioned High Speed Dirt though, that song is awesome. same with Victory off Youthanasia... anyway, RIP is my favorite album, and then KIMB, PS, and SFSGSW are kind of tied for me, then CTE, then Youth, yeah... question: on Rude Awakening, on the Megadeth website it lists like 20 something songs, but on the album there's only 9  |
Did you get the smaller version with a second disk of stuff from The World Needs a Hero?
|
my friend has the new megadeth album, he got it off the net. it's ok. standard megadeth, but i'm still gonna buy it. MEGADETH RULES!
|
I love their later albums, no matter what i will stick by them because i am a fan, and believe if i keep supporting them through these "phases" they will bring out a album that can make #1!!!
|
Thats a good attitude towards any band.
|
i hope they will come to Malaysia....so many stupid band come to Malaysia..
