i checked out some of your stuff and u guys kick ***, i live in the windsor area and ive heard of ya, i think you opened for maiden , motorhead and dio, that must have been sweet
|
Wow, you guys are amazing. That Paranoid cover was totally insane, good job. I'll hopefully be getting your album in the near future.
|
Thanks thrashfanatic2010 & mulletron!!! And it's cool to see you posting on our message board thrashfanatic2010 \m/
"i think you opened for maiden , motorhead and dio, that must have been sweet" Ya, that was an amazing experience!!! We didn't get to play on the main stage though or meet any of the headlining acts :upset: (we played on an indie side stage). It was still great exposure for us because the stage we played on was right inside of the main entry gate to the Amphitheatre. It was a really wierd feeling (pretty scarry lol) seeing what looked like thousands of people lined up outside this gate about to be let in. My adrenaline was really pumping at that point lol. The sound really sucked for us though, I couldn't hear **** and there was nothing we could do about it. They needed a MUCH bigger P.A for that. |
Here's another one of our songs to check out.

This has got to be some of the best sh*t I have ever heard!!!! I like your voice even if no one else does. I would like to hear a little more Iron Maiden like screaming, but then I'm an 80's metal child. That said you guy's steamroll over any new music I have heard in a long time. :smash:
|
Sounds pretty **** cool, the only thing i didn't like was the guitar and bass tones, otherwise the music and lyrics kicked ***!
|
Thanks JetBlackWarlock88 & Griffin Page. I'd have to agree with both your posts. The Dickinson style singing is what I've really been pushing towards since those songs were recorded. Before then I was mostly influenced by Mustaine but I think that was also due to the fact that I had only been singing for like a couple years at that point and I wasn't at all confident in my voice. I can't wait till our next album, it'll sound a bit different musically (in a more Euro Metal direction eg, Nightwish, Edguy, Yngwie Malmsteen) as well as production wise (I don't care for the tones we got on Icons either).
|
signed up for your forums (myka316)...it is a very cool site.
|
Your singing voice fits the music perfectly, in the first song you just needed to push it further.
|
Thanks HondoII for signing up to our board!!! & Thank you NakedRaygun872 for taking the time to listen to our music, I agree with you about pushing my voice further.
Since this thread has gotten pretty long and I've posted multiple songs throughout it I've decided to post them all together here just to make things a little more organized. Great stuff. All of your songs are amazing. And your lead guitarist, just simply amazing. I just got done watchin the video on him performing I believe and Yngwie solo and then Eugenes trick bag. WOW, good stuff!
|
I listened to all three songs and it was interesting. Unlike some of the people who replied, I actually like the singing, especially on "Descendants of Death." The vocalist sounded like Megadeth's singer. The guitarist is very good on the oh-so-Steve Vai-ish solo near the end of "DoD." I think your cover of "Paranoid" is **** good too. And yeah, my speakers and I jumped when the volume hit too. :-p But your group is rather impressive...keep up the good work. I agree with some of the people who replied-->You guys have a lot of talent, and could easily get famous with your level of skill.
|
I just listen to your songs man. I don't see all the hype, I mean the guitars you can barely understand also riffs aren’t very good and you guys have no hooks, drums are very basic, vocals are very boring, couldn’t hear the bass very well. I guess if your trying to be technical your ok but no one wants to hear technical music, not radio friendly and very poor production. I would work on better sound and heavier guitars. Glam rock i'd give you a 2 out of 10
|
^^^^^^^^maybe they don't wanna be radio friendly yes ive heard their songs and i think they;re excellent , the production could use a lil work but its great
|
i knee before your greatness, you guys F***ing rock, i think you guys have major potential to go big if you guys can get your singer to be into it more. other than that
"life is short, metal is FOREVER" |
Wow...utterly mind-blowing!.... You guys are gonna get big no doubt!
EDIT: I saw your site, awesome site! I see you are already making your way up the ladder to fame. Also, your betrayer logo is badass!!! EDIT AGAIN: Can we get some tabs for the songs? seriously dude!....also, after listening to your stuff, i am quite jealous! :thumb: |
*BUMP* cuz they are so **** good, this should be stickied! Also, i dled all the songs and they are going on my Mp3 player!
|
Just heard some of your MP3's. Not too bad...
Some of the best I've heard on this forum... 2 suggestions.... Guitar Tones on the recordings....need to be a bit more clearer, because the phrasing & notation is lost in the mix..... Lead vocals..... Since I am a 44 yo hard rock vocalist who did a ton of 80's melodic rock the first time around, the singer need to dig deeper & go for more emotion, & some high end screams would flavor your music quite a bit. Othwise, great rocking sound... Great job. I have a thread on here for my band Death & Taxes...I would appreciate some critique of my music from the Betrayer camp. Jay Link |
Just out of curiosity, were you listening to eye of the beholder when you wrote tribulation? its an awesome song! i listen to it all the time!

I think it was Norm (our bassists) who came to practice one day with some of the basslines for Tribulation, then I came up with some guitar parts right then. I'm not sure where he got his inspiration for this song (maybe he was listening to Eye of the Beholder lol.....I'll ask him). Thank you everyone for your comments/reviews!!! |
Dude i love your music. The holy wars cover is ace. I love the vocals.
I can really hear the megadeth influences in your music. I listen to descendants of death all the time!:thumb: You dun good mate |

I can really hear the megadeth influences in your music. I listen to descendants of death all the time!:thumb: You dun good mate
Hey thanks flawlesxguitarist \m/ Ya, Megadeth was probalby my biggest influence on Rusted Icons. Since then I've been really inspired by bands like Nightwish, Edguy & Helloween...especially in the vocal department. I still love Megadeth though and want to continue writing Megadeth inspired music. I just like a good mixture of things but always with the same elements such as melody & guitar solos. I hope we can record some better quality live performances soon, but usually there's never that good of a mixing/micing job to do it....or we screw up at some point in every single song lol. |
You guys still need to come to LA ;)
its not as bad as people say it to be :P |
You guys still need to come to LA ;)
its not as bad as people say it to be :P
That would be something we would love to be able to do. It's just a very far trip from where we live (Windsor Ontario Canada) and we have no money lol. But hopefully that'll change this summer, we've been in contact with people organizing Crue Fest at the Whiskey. Last year we didn't make the cut, maybe this year we will \m/ |
That is very, very good. Descendants of Death has gotta be one of my favourite songs now i reckon. I think someone commented on the drumming earlier i personally think it starts off very well, i like the simple kind of beat hes got going. I think it should get more complicated though nearer the end of the song as it does become quite plain. I also love the vocals, the singing goes perfectly with the song. I've just started a band and my singer doesn't like anything but blues... which is a pity cuz he makes up some great lyrics. I need a singer like you who is more interested in the Maiden and Megadeth scene!!! come to England so i can kidnap you after watching one of your gigs then make you the singer of my band Mwahahahahaha  On a more serious note are you ever gonna play in England because you've got one guy whos buying tickets right here.
|
I listen to you guys probably everyday, keep up the good work, anything new post on these forums!
|
Wow, man those were amazing. I would buy your cd but anyway... Those were great songs man. Did you write them? How old are you? All the members in my band are 14 and you guys just blow us away. All your songs were great, i love em.
|
"come to England so i can kidnap you after watching one of your gigs then make you the singer of my band Mwahahahahaha"
LOL!!! "On a more serious note are you ever gonna play in England because you've got one guy whos buying tickets right here." I'd love to play in so many places, England would definitely be one of them. We just have to finish building our raft:) Can I hold you to the ticket sale? But seriously it would be a dream come true. We have no plans to play in England yet but we'll see what happens. "I listen to you guys probably everyday, keep up the good work, anything new post on these forums!" Cool, that's awesome, thanks!!! I'll be sure to post something new on here (whenever we get our sh*t together lol). The next thing will probalby be a single that we're working on for a possible video. The major thing that's been standing in our way for this song is coming up with the right lyrics. "Those were great songs man. Did you write them?" Thanks naboo, I wrote most of the guitar riffs, all the leads, most of the vocal melodies & some of the lyrics. The rest was a collaboration with the rest of the band members or ideas of their own. "How old are you?" I'm 26 "All the members in my band are 14 and you guys just blow us away." You are way ahead of me, I only started playing guitar when I was 17 and I only started singing when I was about 21. By the time you're my age (if you stick with it) you'll be amazing!!! |
good quality music, the singer does nothing whatsover for me, almost makes it unbearable
|
