My copy says Lateralis as the song (us as the album) and its quite old.
my copy of lateralus actually does have the song spelled "lateralus" when you first said that i thought you were just wrong... |
I don't think of "Intermission" as a filler track. It's a really cool and creepy calliope track that instantly turns into "jimmy." That's a cool part of the album right there.
yea, intermission is awesome, its sorta carnival music or something like that, but jimmy comes right in afterwards and sounds like a guitar version with some powerful bass, rock on!! T00L |
Intermission is the same riff as jimmy...just done on a calliope
|
I love Pu****, that and 46 and 2...best tracks on the CD...to me, the melodic tone of Pu**** does it for me and the end just pushes me over the edge...
Good review, but no love on Pu**** makes me sad :( |
Aenima would definitely not be better without the segues, they just add to Tool's unique character and style on their albums. Third Eye is the **** and should not be "cut down" I enjoy every second of it especially the release near the end where Danny goes absolutely insane. One thing i dont get is why no props for Pu**** that song ****in rules.
Unquestionably one of the best albums of the 90's 5/5. |
Intermission is the same riff as jimmy...just done on a calliope
Intermission is an awesome track. |
Actually, I read somwhere that the Lateralus album and track are both supposed to be spelt with a U, but there was a misprint on the earlier printings of the album...I don't know how true this is (my early printing copy has Lateralis as the song, and I insist on spelling it like that), as I've never had to buy a newer one.
I also disagree with what you said about filler....I like all the segues, as I think they add to the album. And I really don't think Third Eye could be any shorter, but to each his own :).
Very true indeed. I actually bought another copy of Lateralus a couple of months later just so I could have a case from each printing. Suprisingly though, I decided to leave my mp3 of the song Lateralus with an "I" just because I'm lazy. So sue me  |
This CD is just flat out rocks. 5/5 easily.

I'd have to say Intermission si actually one of my favorite tracks. It's just so out there and is more of an intro and a filler. If you notice the Jimmy chord progression is the same. Pushit is probably my foavorite song on the album. The only thing I like less about Aenima versus Lateralus is that the lyrics are more crude. Otherwise I prefer it.
EDIT: how do you like that, I already commented on Intermission. I should've gone to the second page before posting. |
i would say since i went through 6 copies of this disk, i would say its decent...hahaha

Absolutely Godly album.
I have the European edition, with the all the fake albums listed in the liners. |

DIE EIER VON SATAN-Starts of with a very industrial part to it, and continues the same thing over and over for two minutes. For the the non German speaker, Die Eier Von Satan translates to The Eggs (or balls) of Satan. This song sounds exetremely evil, with the harsh, corrosive industrial rythm going on and on, but also th harsh tones the spekars (two German men) are using. It sounds like some sort of Nazi rally, with crowd chants and all. But for the the person who knows what these lyrics mean, it's quite funny to hear them with such evil sounding words. I actually really like this song, and can listen to it a couple times. And you really should find out the lyrics, they add an extra edge to this song once you know what they mean. ( Im not going to tell you if you dont know) 9/10 PUSH IT-This is probably the slowest, most melodic song on Aenima. Its also the second longest, at around ten minutes, so it starts to get a little monotonous after a while, but it still doesnt lose focus. It has an oddly brassy feeling feeling to it, and the final minute really has some great parts going for it. I like the eastern tinged parts in it. Tool seems to express their lighter side in this song, and mission accomplished. It certainly is melodic, and you could certainly listen to it more than once (not cheap, unmemberable melody). This song relys less to be structured on bassy beats and rythmic syncopation than other songs. Not to say that it doesnt incorporate some of these ideas, but in the end, Tool doesnt use those tools so much to provide music. This is probably my least favorite song on Aenima, but it is still great. 8.5/10
Wtf?? How on earth can you honestly say that Pu**** is worse than a filler track? Pu**** is probably my favourite Tool song. |
I think Third Eye is a really good song. Despite how long it is, I think every second was worth listening to, and it definately wouldn't be as effective to the listener if it had been cut down and made shorter. Overall, the album is absolutely beautiful. I'm in love with it.

this album rules!!!!!!!!!!!1

I realised two hours ago how faraking awesome this CD is! I used to be like, yeah Tool are O.K, Hooker with a poinis is awesome. Now that I've read the lyrics, oh god they're not as good as Soundgarden but holy crap!
Best songs; Aenema, Hooker and Stinkfist. |
Great album
Fav songs: Pu****, H, Stinkfist, Third Eye The little "filler" songs kinda get in the way of the better, longer tracks but they still add nicely to the mood and flow of the album. |
