I love this album. 5/5
My favourite songs are down in a hole, rain when I die, angry chair, would and rooster.

That's funny, 'Dirt' is my favourite song on that album.

Nice review, good album. :)

I think I was a bit bitter when I made that review back in November :p Because even now, I don't know how I got some of those review numbers for songs.

hum...for me this album is the best album ever made in rock history!i just have no words to describe it.so dark and intense...almost perfect!
good review, though dirt is one of my favs...

Dirt is a cd that takes a little while of getting used to. It is a very good cd though once u have heard it a couple times through. This cd seems more grungier then 'Face Lift". I like this cd better. But thats my opinion. I think this is the better one to get, that is, out of face lift or any other ones. Good Review by the way...
This is one of my albums that I listen to constantly. Great review man! Oh, and JohnTheFisherman, Hate to Feel isn't about drugs, it's about not wanting to become his father. Kind of a "I don't wanna grow up, I'm a toys r us kid" but much darker. That's what it means to me.
Layne Staleys father Phil Staley was also a drug addict and Layne used to do drugs with him so I guess it is still connected with drugs.

Metal Hammer May 2003, Page 80:

Layne recalls "I was about 21 years old when he called. He wanted to reconnect us. He said he had been clean of drugs for six years. So why the hell didnt he come back before? My sister Liz was kind of much more accepting than me. I was very cautious at first. Then the relationship changed... my father started using drugs again. We did drugs together and I found myself in a miserable situation... you know... he started visiting me all ****in' day to get high and do drugs with me. I feel so wounded, you know he came up to me just to get some **** and thats all. I was trying to kick the ****in' habit out of my life and here was this man - my father - asking for money to buy smack."

That whole interview (Staleys last) is very, very disturbing.

An amazing album however. Probably the best ever.

Layne is my all time favorite vocalist. And dirt is in my top 5. I love all of there work. But i cant seem to bring my self to watch unplugged. When i do it makes me sad. I dont like seeing layne looking so frail. I cant remember where i heard it or who said it but "The voice was there but the person wasnt."
