Good album. My favorites are "Porch" and "Black".

Alive convinced me to play guitar. These guys rock, no thanks to those bastards at MTV. Everybody go check out my Vs. review now!!!

As for the grunge argument, I think "grunge" exists as a genre, but Pearl Jam are and never were a grunge band. If you listen to "real grunge" such as Mudhoney, the Melvins, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Tad and god forbid, Nirvana, they all are called grunge and the all sound similar. In contrast Pearl Jam sounds nothing like these bands and I haven't heard any other grunge bands that sound like Pearl Jam. So there.[/QUOTE]

melvins sound NOTHING like nirvana, soundgarden, and (barf) alice in chains (barf). The melvins are much louder, slower (at times), heavier, and all around better.

Stone Temple Pilots sound alot like Pearl Jam, in fact at the alternative club were i live they played a STP song and i thought it was a Pearl Jam song.. Nirvana arent a band to be detested by fans of real grunge, and Pearl Jam broke through just about as much as the Pixies have proven to brake through and werent the Pixies first? god knows im 16 and dont remember the good old days so i will shut up now :upset:

I Dont think they are grunge because they dont deserve to be put in the same catogory as incredible bands like Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Soundgarden and most of all NIRVANA. There is only one song that even comes close to being good: Alive. 1.5/5

tsk. you are everything that is wrong with a nirvana fan, kurt cobain is not a god and Pearl Jam are more grunge than nirvana.

Release - One of the best on the albums, another fan-favorite!

4/5 only cuz ive heard the OTHER Pj albums.

well i love pearl jam, and porch is one of my favourates...and if your wondering that has nothing to do with the fact that my name is porchy, porch is my second name. i give ten 4.5/10. my favourate song on the album is defintaly garden but it ties greatly with release
