I never really liked Cage much, TBQH.

It's OK, I forgive you... The new Kamelot is great as expected :thumb: |
The sample track that was sent out a few weeks back was pretty good. When is the complete album going to be sent (via DU)?
|
I could send it, maybe, if I feel like it. Or I could just steal the link from the blog.
Iron Bars: http://metalmusicforever.blogspot.com It's on there somewhere. |
What does everyone think of Sonata's latest single 'Paid in full'?
Video is crap. |
I think the new album is kinda disappointing. There's some great tracks, but there's equally as many bad ones...
|
So the new Kamelot is absolutely boring.
Discuss. |
I like it.
|
I found it so boring and thought their singer sounded like a drag queen. I've never really gotten into them either but I still loved Black Halo.
|
But his voice didn't bother you on TBH? I think he sounds more like a woman on it than the new one.
GO is like a darker, less catchy TBH, but I still like it. I probably like TBH more though. |
His voice bothers me in general, he sings like a broadway drag-queen and I can't stand it, but the music on the new album reflects it because it seems to try way too hard to be all intense and moody.
|
I love Khan's vocals, personally. I think he has one of the best voices in the scene, even if he does vibrato it at the end of every phrase.
The new album is kinda disappointing though, especially in the later tracks. |
He has a good voice but I don't think he's a good singer, if that makes sense. I just really dislike that style of singing, and yeah, a lot of it has to do with the vibrato.
|
He's one of my handful of favorite singers.
|

That. Usually I prefer my power metal catchy though, so I'm biased. |
The new Cage friggin' rocks. Especially the title track. Such a strong way to open an album.
|
I downloaded Edguy's Mandrake a couple of days ago. Havn't listened to it yet, but it better be good. A lot people say it's their best.

There are no weak tracks, Sean Peck is just awesome on this album... ..and I went back and listed to Heed - The Call and am not as impressed with them, I think the 2007 demo is way better than that album |
I don't really like Edguy, but Mandrake is definitely the best of the three albums I've heard from them

Pharaoh = In top 3 best Edguy songs ever. The rest of the album's good too. |

Agree. Still love 'arrows fly' from ToS though. |
I think I'm starting to lose interest in a lot of power metal. I mean, I gave the album a listen, and was out of it after like 3 songs :-/
|
I don't like many of the "essential" power bands...like Lost Horizon. I mainly like power/thrashy stuff, like IE or Winters Bane or something.
But, then again, I still love Kamelot, Edguy and Falconer, so whatever. :p |
I really need to give Falconer another listen.
That, and I need to give The Black Halo a listen. |
Falconer is about the only one I still like, and just for Kris Gobel's vocals.
The Coronation /drool |
Who was the first singer who's back again in falconer?
|
Mathias Blad. I'm not listening to alot of power metal lately (just Slough Feg) but I'm still looking forward to seeing Falconer at Wacken.
|
Or you just need to give up on euro power metal young Jammie and give traditional metal a chance >->
|
Lawl, like Manowar ?
:p |
Omen, Manilla Road, Metal Church, Iron Angel and the likes \m/
|
Eh, I'll try that. Thanks.
|
At first I kept myself away from modern euro power. Then I started liking it and then I started finding utterly unappealing. Thanks to Slough Feg I discovered quite a few 80s traditional metal bands which I still listen to from time to time. I think they've got a different raw and exciting quality modern bands lack.
|
I had that Twilight of the Idols album from Slough Feg. And I don't think I ever gave it a full listen :(
Never kept my attention that much... |
I remember that. You're like...the exception. :p
|
Haha. I don't know, I liked certain songs, but never got through the whole album. I should giver it another try.
|
Traditional Metal ftw.
|

heh, my mom is good friends with Duke Erickson, the original bass player from metal church, I've actually met him too now that I think about it. |
This is awesome! Any idea of how your mom got to meet with this guy? Is he still a metalhead?

Yeah, they went to school together and he was her date to a dance, and then they were real good friends all through school, and it was awhile ago when i met him, but I would bet he still likes metal. |
