Pre-Demigod Behemoth = good vocals.

I disagree.

I dunno the vocals on Zos Kia Cultus sound pretty similar to me. Don't get me wrong i think Behemoth is badass but sometimes Nergal gets on my nerves.

i am the robots 09-10-2007 04:42 PM

Well, they're not annoyingly overproduced.

ZapatoDiablo 09-10-2007 04:46 PM

I guess so, sometimes the layering gets on my nerves too...

i am the robots 09-10-2007 04:47 PM

I don't like Behemoth anymore because of the layering.

I mean, it can be done right, example:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/7/9/1252962/abyssal_creation_sample.mp3

But Nergal over dose it.

publicastration 09-10-2007 04:51 PM

Meh the only good thing TTEODD has released is Bloodlust.

i am the robots 09-10-2007 05:04 PM

WOW, no.

Scars Of Ages and Annihilation Of Expectation, Bloodlust is weak as hell, three good original songs = fail.

masscows 09-10-2007 06:24 PM

I'm actually curious enough to check their first 2 releases out. Bloodlust sucks hard.

And I think the vocals on Demigod are fitting, although I'm glad Nergal didn't do it on The Apostasy. They're cool for one record, just for a change of "pace", I guess.
I've been listening to metal ever since I was 5 years old.

Seriously though, I've been listening to metal for close to 2 years now, and I would respond to other points if you had had better punctuation and grammatical sentence structure.
whatever. you are definitely a taint licker if the only thing you can respond to me with is "you have bad grammar." what are you my freakin' English teacher? truth is, you're not responding to anything I said 'cuz you're an ignoramus who knows he just got worded. Plus, I find it EXTREMELY hilarious that you act like a know-it-all about metal music when you've been listening to metal for "close to two years." I've been listening to hard rock music for about 15 years now, and I've been CONSUMED by metal for nine. I've got quite a few years of listening and analyzing experience on you boy; you need to take your *** back to school! Oh wait! You're still in school! What're you a sophomore? Look up what sophomore means and it will definitely make sense for your life, and hopefully, it'll be a humbling experience Grammar Boy. Like I said before, go give your mom a hug and tell her you're sorry for being such a little bastard. I don't hang out with underage people in real life, so I have no interest in talking to them on the internet, unless they're obviously intelligent beings. Have a nice day y'all.

I never read posts that long.

If you can't get the point across in a few sentences then what's the point?

NP: Entombed - Left Hand Path

I got Entombed's Left hand path earlier today. Cool.

It's a good album. It's the only one I listen to really.

I would respond except for the simple fact that I cannot decipher points to respond to out of that incoherent mess.

I absorb facts like a sponge.

Sophomore? I will be graduated by the end of this year, and next fall will be enrolling in culinary school. Why do you think you're such hot shit? Judging from your level of education, I would guess that you are a garbage collector or some such other menial job.

Yes, you are correct. Slayer helped pioneer the extreme metal genre. However this is a death metal thread, so that's not really relevant.
ok, luc214, you're 16, right? and rattlehead, you're 17? which means you guys have been listenin' to metal for what, like, 20 minutes now? I'm sure you're going to tell me about how "you've been listening to metal since you were like 5 years old" or whetever, but that don't even matter, 'cuz it's B.S.

luc, you said that "Slayer had nothing to do with the pioneering of death metal. That was Autopsy and Death." except I never said they pioneered death metal, I said "they invented extreme metal" meaning that they pushed the boundaries of "thrash metal" to the point that it was so much faster and lyrically darker than most other thrash bands, causing it to be almost to the point where you couldn't call it thrash (but it was, by todays definition). If Chuck Schuldiner were still alive, and you could ask him about what metal bands prompted him to start writing his metal, Slayer probably would've been pretty high on his list of influences, meaning that Slayer (among others, like Venom, early Celtic Frost and Black Sabbath) were a CATALYST for what was to become "death metal"
The lyrical content between Slayer and most death metal bands today really isn't all that different, except that death metal guys do it in a lower voice than Tom did... and if you look at most every other metal band in the '80's, almost nobody sang in a low pitched voice, at least until about '88 with the onset of bands like Morbid Angel, Death, Terrorizer, Napalm Death, followed by Obituary, Cannibal, Deicide, etc at the break of '90. So, in a way, Slayer did in fact have something to do with the pioneering of death metal, because they opened the doors for violent and Satanic lyrics and imagery that their followers continued to explore and expand upon, not to mention the over the top usage of tremolo picking and hyper fast double bass. This part of my monologue leaks into what rattlehead up there said how Slayer are "the most generic of all metal bands."

I will go ahead and say that I've been pretty damn disappointed with the last couple Slayer records, and I have my own reasons for that, but, to say that Slayer is a generic metal band shows your lack of intelligence as far as the IMPACT that their first five records had on the world of heavy metal. Sure, by today's standards, even old Slayer sounds pretty damn weak because people have built upon that style and perfected that type of sound so many times. But a couple things should be considered- one being advancements in technology allowing amps and guitars (especially the pickups) being built to better suit extreme playing as well as recording technology that opened the field of sound to give records A LOT more bass than they used to before the mid-90's. If Slayer re-recorded Reign... today, all the notes could be the same, but the notes would sound different because of the equipment being used (same difference as Dimmu's Stormblast original vs. re-recorded. same music, different tonal qualities). Anyway, you have to respect Slayer for the impact that they had on people to pick up guitars and expand upon the sounds they'd already heard and make the music that you apparently worship, without giving regards to the people that made it more of a possibility to happen in the first place. BTW, rattlehead, I wasn't criticizing anyone for talking about any bands, but making fun of them for arguing about which of them were "better" without any reasons as to why they had their opinions in the first place.

in in response to jcs497's comment that I "....have absolutely no idea what (I'm) talking about...", that seems kind of moronic after reading this post, doesn't it?

so, in review, my points were:
1. Slayer do have something to do with the "pioneering of death metal" because they pretty much laid the groundwork for it.
2. Slayer are just as "generic" as all those who had their influence and followed in their footsteps.
3. Technology has had a hand in making records hit harder than they used to, thereby making something sound "heavier" and more "extreme"
and finally,
4. Respect your roots. Kinda like how you should be thankful your Mom decided to let your Dad bust his nut inside of her on that particular night in 1990 when you're were conceived, rather than do the responsible thing and swallowing his nut, thus preventing your little bastard *** from joining the human race. In fact, you need to go give your mom a hug right now, and thank her for the computer that you're using right now, the clothes on your back, the rides to school, the lunch she packed for you and everything else your ungrateful little *** has. You could also man up, give your dad a firm handshake and tell him you respect him and everything he's done for you.

Now, go ahead and respond and seize the opportunity for you to portray yourselves as the jackasses you really are...
