I was blown away (and even MORE disappointed on what i was missing out) when i first heard Into Eternity.

They are one of the most original bands I've heard in a while...excellent everything. Not a flaw within the band.

Pick up Buried In Oblivion when you get the chance...it will completely change your perspective on music forever.

Buried in Oblivion, IMO, is their best cd so far although Dead Or Dreaming is quite good also. They are really an excellent band, the way they use high and low pitched vocals is what I like the. The guitar and the bass work is also fantastic.

I'm listening to the first song now. It's pretty good. I'll get the other two and I may pick up the album.

Going to see Opeth and Nevermore on November 2nd!!!!!

First Opeth show ever. :D

Anyone else expecting to see Pelican at the Opeth show in Vancouver, don't hold your breath. Pelican have dropped out. Local band the S.t.r.e.e.t.s are playing instead. In other good news, Opeth will be doing an instore at Scrape records on Broadway.

7:00 pm, the 14th, right before the show at the Commodore.
I was in there today to buy me tickets and they said Opeth would be doing a signing and if I were not so bloody stoic, I would have screamed like a little boy. Needless to say, I said 'Right on. I knew all about it' and that's when they said Crytopsy's coming the week after that. Didn't say much to that but yes, there is no point to this story.

I feel I should mention I picked up Dam[font=]nation[/font] the other day, and it's easily the best thing I've heard by this band. They should quit metal and stick to acoustic.

I felt the same way at first. To Bid You Farewell and A Fair Judgement were the two best songs I had ever heard. I downloaded a lot of their soft stuff until I heard Blackwater Park the song.

If it's the growls that put you off, you can learn to tolerate them, and eventually love them.

But if you staight up don't like metal, then I guess D*mnation is about as far as you will get.

They're such an amazing band but fit into the Love-or-hate-the-vocals genre. Me, I think Warrel outdoes Halford but people have been known to disagree.

I felt the same way recently, i realized that i enjoy more To rid the disease than the rest of the Opeth's songs.

I've heard that one too, not as good imo.

It's definitely the growls though. Not that I hate growling, I love Nile. Akerfeldt's bother me a lot though.

How can you say that? Of course, Opeth has some of the most brilliant acoustic songs, but how can you listen to April Ethereal, When, Master's Apprentices, Serenity painted Death, White Cluster, The Moor, The Night and the Silent Water, Karma, Godhead's Lament, Black Rose Immortal, Forest of October, Reverie/Harlequin Forest, Bleak and say that they should stop making (death) metal? I hope they continue making metal for a long time, hopefully release some more brutal stuff than GHOST REVERIES, and just go on making the music they always made.
