It used to be, with Rastafarianism and whatnot, but now it's really just a trend. I would probably be into it, but all the popular kids at my school and in my town think it's just a way to have a good time, and don't use it like I think it should be used. So I'm straight edge, which, the more I think about it, makes more sense.

Straight edge is just as lame as heavy drug use. Recreational drug use is fun on a bun, but proper potheads are so boring. It's like doing weed becomes their entire personality.

People like that shouldn't stop you from doing anything. The way the 'cool kids' smoke is a trend. Everyone smokes to have a good time, or to relax, but while they do really like it, their reasons are way more superficial than someone with similar reasoms as I. When I smoke I hate being around a lot of people, usually just a few friends. I don't do it because I want to get "f[SIZE=2]u[/SIZE]cked up", I do it because it's very relaxing and gives me a better/different outlook on everything. It's fine if you don't want to smoke, but don't let douche bags prevent you from at least trying it. If whatever music you like to mostly became trendy, would you stop listening to it?

I think straight edge is kinda dumb, cause contemporary straight edge isn't what it was originally about. The way I look at it, straight edge was supposed to be about not letting drugs become a big part of you. And plus, why is there a label for people who don't do drugs but also happen to listen to Minor Threat?

Smoking marijuana does not prevent someone from living a positive life. It may prevent a "clean" life, but clean to me simply means abstaining from anything harmful to your body. Nobody leads a clean life, there are toxins and harmful substances in many of the foods we eat for god sakes.
