Then in that case, don't forget!

Get this: I sprained my right ankle playing basketball, so I was out from playing for 2 weeks. Today (my first day back) we had a game. Within 2 minutes of me being on the floor, I fall on my left ankle and do the same damn thing.

I have to use my bass as a cane when I'm in my room. It sucks.

That's great. :thumb:

Lawn Boy and Nectar would be my two recommendations. They are great, with Lawn Boy being more jazzy and Nectar being mroe funk.

As for this cd, how else could you describe it? It wasn't a live cd was it? If not there are a couple options. What did it sound like (funk, etc)?

BassVirtuoso 01-11-2005 11:06 PM

It wasnt live. It was more funk rock than jazz. The heaviest, in terms of rock, that I have heard from them

PaulSimonon 01-11-2005 11:07 PM

Awesome... cunt isn't fucking censored.

Saitoku 01-11-2005 11:07 PM

Hmm.

It could be Ghost, which is a more trippy, funk album.

It could be Undermind, which was their last album and actually pretty heavy as far as Phish go.

It's most likely Undermind. Of course, there are more albums but those ones stand out.

Ginsu knifes don't cut skin well... Don't ask me how I know, I hate explaining things like this.

PaulSimonon 01-11-2005 11:15 PM

I think I'll get a nice even number before I go.

PaulSimonon 01-11-2005 11:16 PM

PaulSimonon 01-11-2005 11:16 PM

It is probably undermind then, thanks

I am also looking for a good funk album of theirs with a lot of slap bass in it. I really like Mike Gordon's slap style. Would you reccommend Ghost for that?

:amaze: 01-11-2005 11:25 PM

I'm out. Night MX.

:amaze:

:amaze: 01-11-2005 11:26 PM

Dude.

His style is very unique. It' really hard to slap-jam, know what I mean. Like to jam a whole song slap, not just a 3 minute song, but just jam. That's why he is the man. Him, Phil Lesh, and Woody pretty much invented jam-bass.

But back on your topic, yeah Ghost is a great album for that. Although 2 or so out of, oh I dont know maybe 13 tracks have him slapping, it is worth it. The other songs have him grooving, which is great too. The title track, ghost, has a slap solo somewhere in there, and that whole song grooves insanely--you have to listen to it.

Also, aside from Ghost (and Nectar which you have) is Slip Stitch and Pass, which is a live album of theirs (and sometimes hard to find). A lot of it is very blues-oriented with some funk and a couple songs with Mike's slapping. One song imparticular, Weekapaug Groove, is a great song to hear Mike's style.

Lastly, is their first album (double-disc) Junta. A lot of it is jam and it is great to hear their roots. Some songs have slap and they are very good.

Overall, definately go with Ghost and Slip, stitch, and pass.

yeah, his style is more of an actual slap with muted pops. It gives it a groovy feel. Listen to Weekapaug Groove and you'll see what I mean.

sorry if I got off on a rant here/..
