Leakage/diggage today...

Lightning Bolt - Hypermagic Mountain
Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better With Franz Ferdinand

I Was A Kaleidoscope 09-11-2005 03:55 AM

Cog, a bit of the new Coheed and Cambria [which is infinitely better than all the old Coheed and Cambria, he has lost his 'knife to the groin makes me squeal' factor].
Blacklicious - Blazing Arrow

I'm the last person on earth to hear this. It's excellent.
Nope.

I just got it this morning. Pretty awesome so far.

Bukowski 09-11-2005 03:41 PM

Today's digging:

King Prawn - First Offense
Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime
Black Flag - In My Head

Seems Hot Snakes are on the playlist for the new Tony Hawk game - they'll be covering a Government Commissions song. It's about the only thing that looks promising, whereas Rise Against covering Black Flag, Fall Out Boy covering Gorilla Biscuits and 'Emanuel' covering The Stooges are probably destined for disaster.

I think its funny how Greg mixed Rollins almost completely out of that record.

Tomahawk 09-11-2005 07:13 PM
Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better With Franz Ferdinand

the tracks don't stand out individually as much as they did on the last album, but I think it flows a lot better. The first sounded like a greatest hits compilation, and this sounds like an actual album.
I agree. I think that songs like Walk Away and Eleanor Put Your Boots On really help the album, they stop it from getting too samey like the first one.

Anyway that's what I've been digging too. I like the album, it's not great, but it's solidified my opinion that they're by far the best band to come out of the whole new wave revival thing. Hell, FF and Bloc Party are really the only bands in that whole scene who've managed to make solid albums.

Iai 09-11-2005 07:15 PM

I think the Art Brut album is pretty solid.

Anyway, I'm downloading the FF album. But right now I'm listening to Rumors.

Tomahawk 09-11-2005 07:19 PM

Oh and here's this thing.

Weekly Top Artists

I don't remember listening to that much Duran Duran.
I was thinking of checking them out. School me.
Okay, well it's a Factory records release and their only studio LP ('82). Along with most Factory releases, it's a moody post-punk record. The sound found here has more psychedelic influences than I initially anticipated, but it's fantastic. It's atmosphere is excellent and one of the best reasons for me to recommend it. I've only heard it a couple of times, but I'm really enjoying it.
Now there's an album I haven't heard. How does it compare to Real Life and The Correct Use of Soap?
Unfortunately, this is the only Magazine album I've heard. It's very enjoyable so I plan on picking up Real Life in the near future...

I like it.

It's no Beaches & Canyons. But it's not trying to be. The only problem is sometimes I listen too loud and hurt my ears.
