When I used to work at a music store, I saw them all the time. They'd always travel in packs.

I sat by a power metal kid in Greek History last semester.

I knew one completely typical PM dude in high school. Complete nerd. As in, [I]the[/I] definition of nerd.

We used to give him so much ****. It was all typical too, like honey on his windshield and stealing his wiper blades. Nothing special, but for some reason it always got him and it was funny as hell...

Until his daddy got mad at the damage we ended up inflicting on his car.

How does one identify a power metal guy? I see kids in DragonForce and Iced Earth shirts alot but I think they're posers and traditional/thrash metallers, respectively.

And because most of the time when I see dudes in Iced Earth shirts they're with dudes in Judas Priest/Iron Maiden/Metallica/Megadeth shirts.

Well, Iced Earth is popular in the US so someone who listens to them might not even listen to other power metal since they're just as much thrash as they are power metal.

Anyway, this discussion is dumb I've just realized. I'll be on the lookout for power metallers wherever I go o_O

Most people who listen metal where I live are power metal-heads. :S

People here are pretty diverse, so I don't mind.

Most here like grind/hardcore kids so it's pretty cool.

ok so i love black metal but i cant seem to find bands that are good in the genre, can anyone give me some sick bands to look up?

well i love the bands that i listen to but i dont exactly know where to look for new bands
i love bands like emporer, gorgoroth, mayhem, and wolves in the throne room, i wanna buy a whole new lot of black metal cd's i just wanna know which are good to buy right off the bat.

yeah I agree with Josh. check out all the basic main bands. they aren't hard to find. once you've listened to some of that stuff come back. tell us what you liked and what you didn't like and then maybe someone will recommend you more good bm. until you've got the basics covered there is no point in anyone recommendind anything.
