best eighties albums to check out?
all i really have is NWA and Boogie Down Productions |
will look at some of those
any recs that dont involve Run DMC ? |
de la soul - 3 feet high and rising
de la soul is getting heavily into backpacker territory but i deeply enjoyed an immortal technique song the other day so i might humor you
de la soul influenced backpack rap but they're definitely not backpacker. they predate all that bullshit. they were just a few weird dudes who liked cool beats
i was at my friends house and he listens to rock and shi and had put on Dance with the Devil
after i was like this is kinda deep bro who that is and he's like thats immortal technique i was like **** i got tricked this ever happen to you |
he's a pretty solid rapper in terms of his internal rhymes and w/e, he just has really stupid lyrics that people think are incredible because they make absurd claims about the government and conspiracy theories
rap without multi-syllabic rhymes and punchlines shouldn't be considered music
unless it's Eazy or the Ruthless family |
it's all about Paid In Full for best 80's album
Brother Ali's free show last night was whitefest 2009. I took a pic of the crowd; i'll circle the one black guy and post it when i get that roll developed. The dancing was atrocious... you'd have thought it was a hippy dippy jam rock show: lots of knee bending and mechanical arm swaying.
for some reason this revelation does not surprise me

yeah me either... but it's a sobering reality check.
i remember seeing a picture of a rza concert where there was only like 3 black people in the crowd
black people dont listen to hipster music, surprise surprise
There was a large number of african-americans at the De La Soul concert. Most of them were older though. The black ladies in front of my friends and I were bitches
lots of white people at the lil wayne concert i went to
did you get a free ticket or soemthing
i did actually, why?
i turned a guy onto ethiopium today
he;s white as hell |
Does anyone like Del Tha Funkee Homosapien?
I personally don't. He does a nice verse on that Gorillaz song, tho.

i've never checked out his non-Deltron stuff tbh. but his stuff on that persona is pretty solid |
Del's great, but Both Sides Of the Brain is his only top notch album apart from Deltron. The new 3030 album better be out soon, ive been waiting 3 years for it
Future Development is better than Both Sides of the Brain and I Wish My Brother George Was Here is funky as hell. His lyrics are kind of garbage, but he has a nice flow and usually has some nice west coast beats.
