Reforming Sleep would be amazing.

Phototropic 12-31-2007 12:05 PM

I love Om, and High on Fire are slaying too, haven't heard much Sleep apart from Jerusalem and dragonaut but its all good

Matt Pike is off the scale, love his playing

gmoneyguy 12-31-2007 12:17 PM

Go download dopesmoker this instant.

Kage 12-31-2007 02:42 PM

If he's heard Jerusalem, he's basically heard Dopesmoker.

So, it's time to replenish the discussion with the addition of a band that has never been discussed as far as I remember.

Any fans of Earthless?
Think shredding/guitar wank extraordinaire all the way, but with a very thick layer of Blues/stoner.
Extremely energetic music and while I'm nta big fan of mindless guitarwank, this is so good.
It's instrumental mostly, with long tracks.

God damn, the energy that this trio creates is insane.
Recommended for everyone that wants to explore some different, more retro-ish stoner.

:20 minute guitar solo:

the2stranger 01-01-2008 04:07 PM

Exactly!

Total earsecks if you ask me.
That guy knows his way around the fretboard.

Eliminator 01-01-2008 04:08 PM

they're cool to rock to i guess but listening to a whole album of that gets pretty boring

the2stranger 01-01-2008 04:10 PM

I'm pretty new to them, so I can imagine it gets a bit boring after a while.
But for now, I'm loving it.

The lack of any real structure doesn't bother me.
Looking forward to seeing these guys live.

repcak 01-01-2008 04:13 PM

i will check them out tomorrow - today i listen to Nadja.
remind me yesterday to check them out, if i should forget it.

the2stranger 01-01-2008 04:19 PM

Alright, but for now, indeed, enjoy Nadja.
Excellent night music.
Really hypnotic.

repcak 01-01-2008 04:21 PM

yeah, i enjoying a lot... getting melancholic and a little bit depressive right now, but its ok... its great music, intense, beautiful - thanks a lot!

... being stoned is just fantastic...

/me thinks he felt in love yesterday...

NemesisDivina 01-01-2008 04:25 PM

I think Jesu is the music that makes me most melancholic, especially the songs Silver and Star... the atmosphere is brilliant.

/me thinks he felt in love yesterday...[/QUOTE]Yeah, it makes you a bit melancholic indeed.
Feels like you're drifting of to some alien world or something.

You fell in love with the girl you mentioned earlier?
The one you hadn't seen for 3 years?
Is she your ex, or just a ladyfriend?

Yeah, Jesu sort of gets me in the same mood.
But as far as atmosphere goes nothing beats Nadja or The Angelic Process for me.

repcak 01-01-2008 04:28 PM

Nadjas 42min riff is like
and the melodie in the background ... holy **** on mother earth....

yes exactly.

yes and no; she felt in love with me during my graduation from school. during the summer holidays we met ourself twice, but cause i went to vienna and had some other personal problems i just haven't called her since.

yesterday we talked a little bit, then went to the cemetary and smoked a joint; there i said that i'm sorry about the fact that i haven't called her;
at the end i gave her a blow with the joint, during which our lips had contact; the moment after was beatiful; we already would have kissed, but then we returned... whatever, she gave me her phonenumber and she studies in vienna... lets see; at least i would like to meet her again.

the2stranger 01-01-2008 04:30 PM

Haha, yeah, it has so much going on at once, so many layers.
Pure <3.

Good to see I've gotten yet another person into Nadja. :D

repcak 01-01-2008 04:33 PM

yes, you did :)
but i have to thank you :)

No problemo!. :thumb:

The part about the girl sounds really romantic, nice ma.
Best of luck with that, having a girl is always nice.

I'm really digging the first song they have up. How would I go about acquiring more of their material?

the2stranger 01-01-2008 04:47 PM

Get the album that that song is on, it has one other 20 minute song and that's it.
It's sweet stuff.
They have another full length out.

But start with Sonic Prayer, that should get you started. :)
It's well available at internet stores.

Skyler 01-01-2008 04:51 PM

I actually found an upload of it. If anyone else wants it, let me know.

the2stranger 01-01-2008 04:55 PM

Yeah, mp3 version is of course also possible.
I forgot about that.

repcak 01-01-2008 04:56 PM

Earthless is really nice... great music!

the2stranger 01-01-2008 05:02 PM

I stumbled upon them because I was looking at the line-up list of this festival I'm going to.
And I thought, well lets check out some bands so you know what to expect.
And I was not dissapointed.

If I make some more good discoveries I'll post about them here.

Eliminator 01-01-2008 05:03 PM

i was hoping earthless would be more metal
