Sabbath is good. My band is playing Paranoid as a cover, and we decided to have every one do a solo, so i am need of some help, does anyone got any good ideas for a solo, for the song Paranoid?
Thanks all...

blue3 04-23-2006 10:26 PM

just improvise? Silverchair covered Paranoid too.

and Martin owns Dio

rippa32 04-24-2006 05:51 PM

I dont think so. Martin doesnt have the power that Dio has. Also Dio is surprisingly versatile, check out Rainbow Eyes by Rainbow for an example of this. Also to anyone who think they sucked without ozzy, your fine to think that but why? The other singers are really good and they arnt the first band to have line-up changes with their singers. I dont see anyone say Deep Purple sucked without Gillan.

In other news I have finally recieved the record in the mail. I have only been able to hear the first two songs so far as my pre-amp isnt working. Unfortunately I found out it was re-issue after looking at the inner sleeve, normally this wouldnt be too bad but I think it was re-issued mid 80's so there has been digital technology used at some point and it sounds like a CD thus kinda defeating the point.

shadow_stalker 04-24-2006 06:02 PM

...martin can stand on Dio :p

yeah Dio was a great singer but i jsut prefer Martin, dont really know why

he sure does, i love his vocals on all of his Rainbow albums, Stargazer FTW!

...for a bit of relevance... Heaven and Hell FTW!

Oh ok, do you have cross purposes at all? I was considering buying that.

Dio did some good things outside of Sabbath. I just didn't like the direction the band was going in after Ozzy left.

rippa32 04-26-2006 06:47 PM

They were going that less heavy direction ever since Technical Ecstacy.

blue3 04-26-2006 11:02 PM
and Megadeth:p
and 283247234 other bands.

rippa32 04-27-2006 04:32 AM

That is so true, media player is full of them.

nope dont ahve it, i havnt even bought a sabbath album in ages

damn you Power metal, you are taking all my money!!!

blue3 04-27-2006 07:29 AM

Have any of you seen that show 'Rock School'? They played a lot of Black Sabbath but it wasn't that great.

rippa32 04-27-2006 10:02 PM

Im going on a bit of a rock/metal based movie run at the moment so I am going to check it out anyway. There was a bit of Sabbath on Almost Famous as well.

blue3 04-27-2006 10:51 PM

It's a bunch of 9 to 17 year olds playing Sabbath songs, so it's not just background music. Almost Famous was good.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-27-2006 11:06 PM

That was a good movie.

rippa32 04-28-2006 04:30 AM

Im not saying it was a bad movie, it was great. The acting of the journo kid wasnt all that convincing though. Oh ok, isnt that guy on Rock School some Zappa nut or something?

blue3 04-28-2006 07:13 AM

Yeah he is. He screams way too much.

yeah sure, i like his solo work. don't like his sabbath work as far as sabbath is concerned, if you know what i mean. i don't consider dio's sabbath as sabbath, as the whole style changed. e.g. H&H; they never did slow maiden-esque bass triplets before dio came along.

Listen to the bass in Sabbra Cadabra, its very maiden-esque in its tripletly-ness.

i saw the episode with Tony Iommi on, was worth watching just to see him own gene simmons on the guitar

rippa32 04-28-2006 06:03 PM

She meant the movie actually not the Gene Simmons TV series, lol. I would love to see that episode and after getting series one in australia I am hoping for series two to come just for that episode.

shadow_stalker 04-29-2006 05:38 AM

I havnt seen that movie, is it worth buying?

blue3 04-29-2006 12:12 PM

Not at all. I had no idea there's a series 2 for Gene Simmons show.
Not at all. I had no idea there's a series 2 for Gene Simmons show.
God I hate Gene Simmons.

Oh, and for the record: Dio>almost anyone else in metal.
