That's Marco for you. I love his bass tone...he makes himself heard, and he actually plays some interesting stuff.
On Sinergy it has a way softer tone. For Nightwish and Tarot it sounds alot different, more distorted. Either way he rules.
One of my all time favorite moments in music is the when Tobias and the double bass come in at the beginning of Mysteria.
Youtube has a great video of them doing that song live.

Nepenthe 06-16-2006 11:59 PM

Save for Tobias' outfit, that video ruled.

-The Frank 06-17-2006 12:10 AM

the scream at the beggining is quite \m/
I like Rhapsody much more than I used to.
Holy Thunderforce, for example, is kickarse.
Oh yes, Ollie that songs rocks so hard. I mean when the Keyboard solo comes in YES! I have get out of my chair and pretend its me!

Apocalyptic Raids 06-17-2006 04:41 AM

I check out Sabaton's Primo Victoria today, and it's not too bad. I could do without the keyboards, though.

I've also been listening to Ample Destruction alot lately. \m/

Such a great album.

not...bad...do without the keyboards?

*twitch twitch*

Apocalyptic Raids 06-17-2006 05:14 AM

Man, if they lost the keyboards and did more songs like Counterstrike then my enjoyment of them would increase tenfold :)

shadow_stalker 06-17-2006 05:15 AM

but how can you not love the keys? especially the cheesy bit at the start of metal machine, they just rule

Stoic 06-17-2006 05:42 AM

Has any of you Sabaton lovers heard First for Fight (demo collection released as a full length album)?

Riva 06-17-2006 05:53 AM

Yes, I've heard Thundergods and Burn Your Crosses. Top notch songs.

Stoic 06-17-2006 05:57 AM

**Thunderstorm ;)

Good, good Jason. You should get the entire thing though. All of you. First for Fight>>>Primo Victoria in my opinion since the riffage is more complex and the song writing more tight.

Ample Destructioon is one of my all time favorites from the 80s. I love the trade offs during the sort of mellow bit on Harder Than Steel That album was before it's time...

Shattered_Future 06-17-2006 07:51 AM

Thundergods rules. That riff in the beginning is excellent.

Warfare is so awesome.

Steerpike 06-17-2006 08:35 AM

I have most of the tracks off of the album since I can't get my hands on the real thing. Masters of the World grew on me pretty quickly.

I still enjoy Primo Victoria more though as Joakim's vocals were at their best and the bigger budget for production gave it a much stronger sound.

Lord Abortion 06-17-2006 03:19 PM

I like the songs I got from FFF, but not quite as much as the Primo ones... Burn your crosses is the best of them though. Again, it shows how they are masterful at making a great chorus.

ollie_poole 06-17-2006 04:25 PM
Ok, so im goin to write up a list of albums to get... Would you be able to give me some ideas for more?

So far I have:
sonata arctica - Silence
Helloween - Kot7K part II
Dragonforce - Inhumane rampage
Gamma Ray-Powerplant
Lost Horizon - A Flame To The Ground Beneath
Sabaton - Primo Victoria
Savatage - Hall Of The Mountain King
Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle-Earth
Tarot - Stigmata
Galloglass - Legends From Now And Nevermore
Running Wild - Black Hand Inn
Edguy - Hellfire club
Kamelot!!!! Their album Epica is amazing. And yes I realise you probably posted this many months ago

And also Running Wild and I would recommend their album Port Royal, although Black Hand Inn is very good

You could also have Stratovarius. Their best song is Black Diamond

Out of curiousity, I'd like to inquire with you, oh sages of power metal, what a good name for a hero would be?

A hero who battles a dark sorcerer to save the dragon young.

Shattered_Future 06-17-2006 08:53 PM

Frank Sinatra.

Or (seriously), Aiden Hopesfall?

EDIT: Man, I never knew how much stuff Nightwish actually released...stupid non US distribution. *grumble*

Riva 06-17-2006 11:14 PM

Dravinaar.

EDIT: Too evil sounding.

Tamaris.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-18-2006 07:52 AM

So I love Hall Of The Mountain King, what Savatage album should I get next?

Stoic 06-18-2006 08:16 AM
LORD To Support QUEENSRŸCHE In Australia
Well done Timmy :D \m/

Lord Tim 06-18-2006 11:02 AM

You guys have no idea how happy I am about this!! :D

Apocalyptic Raids 06-18-2006 11:09 AM

Since you covered Queen Of The Reich one would assume you are all gigantic Queensryche fans. :D

It's an awesome song.

Lord Tim 06-18-2006 12:10 PM

Rage For Order was the first metal album I ever bought and I've been a massive QR fan since I was 16. Now I'm sharing a stage with them.

*changes soiled pants again for the 458,764th time today*

:D :D :D

Lord Abortion 06-18-2006 01:31 PM

That's going to be really cool. Geoff Tate is brilliant.
He sounds pretty much as close to Bruce Dickinson you can get without actually stealing his genes in some sort of sick experiment, so it bodes well for a man's talent.

Riva 06-18-2006 07:02 PM
So I love Hall Of The Mountain King, what Savatage album should I get next?
The Wake Of Magellan definitely.
You guys have no idea how happy I am about this!! :D
Haha, awesome news. Congratulations.

Deth 06-18-2006 08:54 PM

Queensryche were good when I saw them open for Priest.

Hey, Dungeon should open for Priest, now there's a tour.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-18-2006 09:59 PM
Hey, Dungeon should open for Priest, now there's a tour.
Lord* :p

and yes, that would be a fine tour.

I got some Sanctuary yesterday, it's good stuff.
