Theremin?

*Wikipedia*

Edit: Oic

Dr Hooch 08-20-2007 09:00 AM

how much was your theremin surf

Surf 08-20-2007 09:15 AM

£249 :(

The shop didn't have any in stock so I've been waiting ages on backorder.

I should really get a proper amp, as it doesn't sound great running through the cheapy bass amp I have.

Surtr 08-20-2007 09:16 AM

Something tells me it won't sound that great for a while anyways ;) :p

Having your wisdom teeth taken out is not fun. Although you do get morphine, it's a limited supply, so when the nurses say "No more" you just have to put up with the pain. And you get a big bloated face for a week or two.

But on the plus side, you get a lot more acquainted with milkshake and soup

FVG27 08-20-2007 10:21 AM
Which course?

I was applying for either History or English and my predicted grades weren't really good enough to get in.

I got around it in Exeter by applying for a course loosely connected, then changing over on results day.

What's that like medicine or something?

Bristol was my lowest offer ABB

and I got

AAAA
Eeeeenglish and philosophy :)

My AS grades this year have been AAAB (and another B if yyou include general studies. But who does?) so I've got a shot I think at most unis. Depends on my personal statement for the tougher ones though.
Heheey!

Sure, sounds good (might even be one of my band's gigs >_> )

Zoe's moving down soon too. Her uni don't start for a fortnight after she does, so if it's sometime then I'm sure she'll be glad of the distraction :P plus it might be a bit less awkward, what with another girly girl n all =]
Ha yeah that would be wicked :) we shall see we shall see.

Ouchies :( I've had 5 teeth out altogether. 4 molars and a canine. Hurts like hell when they don't numb it completely :-/

I think as long as your personal statement isn't genuinely bad you'll be fine. Cambridge just use it as an interview prompt and most unis will just be looking to see that you're a well balanced person.

Surf 08-20-2007 10:46 AM

My personal statement was dire. I wrote one in rhyming couplets for the hell of it. And it was probably better than my actual one.

Are you carrying on all four (proper) subjects? If so, with those grades you should be able to get in most places.

Yeah I am. English, philosophy, art and drama (that's what I got my B in). I mean they only really care about 3 (which I'm hoping are gonna be As) but I'm hoping a 4th could sway a place for me.

I can certaintly say it doesn't do you any harm, but physics isn't hard to get into anyway.

Serves you right for trying to take an art, anyway. ;)

Sorry but thats just one subject.

Don't bother. Really.

Physics? Eh?

I wasn't sure before starting college whether I wanted to go down an arty route or a more englishy one :p I was good at it so I chose it, but wish I'd chosen physics or biology to go better with philosophy. I jsut chose things I enjoyed at the time.

Zombies Ate My Neighbours 08-20-2007 12:20 PM

I already did bother >_>

Untitled 08-20-2007 12:47 PM

I wanna go to uni, im getting impatient now.

Im bored of the holidays, admittedly ill be off to leeds festival day after tomorrow, but other then that, im bored and what work to do :(

Well i have my summer project to do, but its not a proper thing i can get into, its more of a thing to get started now which will carry on threwout the year to reference from.

FVG27 08-20-2007 12:54 PM

My sister's going to Leeds fest. If you see her say hi :D

That is... if you knew what she looked like.

Untitled 08-20-2007 12:57 PM

Ill just go up to randomers say hi, see what there reaction is.

Even though they probably wont react like "why are you saying hello to me, i don't know you...." as its leeds, a lot of people will be probably too stoned to care.

I should really start getting ready for it i think.

If you can get the grades, you can get in somewhere fairly decent to do physics.

Why would I take physics? :p

Zombies Ate My Neighbours 08-20-2007 01:39 PM

Cause its interesting, useful and highly regarded.

ie. a great course

You'd think that, but during freshers week everyone seems to be really welcoming and nice and stuff. You'd be suprised how easily you can just walk up to people and start talking. I met my friends by walking up to them in the pub and saying hi. After a couple of months cliques start setting in though.
Why would I take physics? :p
Ew physics

edit; actually just ew at number based subjects in general.

Zombies Ate My Neighbours 08-20-2007 01:42 PM

Yeah, freshers week was so friendly - everyone talked to anyone, itd be amazing if everybody was like that all the time :)

I was on about doing that at leeds festival.

One thing im worrying about is everyone being all friendly on freshers, which they probably will, then becoming mates with them, for them to turn out to be a **** a couple weeks later.

Surf 08-20-2007 01:58 PM

Heh, I met one of my mates on the first night, but didn't talk to him for like a month after that. We both thought the other one was pretty weird. But the social circles overlap, and usually, by the end of the year, everyone ends up with people they like.

I've got mates, good mates, who I only really started hanging around with in the last half of the thrid term.

Haha, both the people who i have found online from various places, well one found me actually, but w/e, there on my course and both girls, design subjects tend to be quite girl heavy.

Surf 08-20-2007 02:02 PM

Ratio of boys to girls on my course: something like 10:1

Person I end up walking to and from every lecture with: Short skinhead dude.

Absolutely. Bristol has one of the best for b/gr for physics and it's still 6-7/1.

sucks.

I think last year, on foundation, i would of sed 70% of people were girls, rest guys, im expecting the same on Degree too. :)

In the 3D design group i was in, there was 2 guys, and about 12 girls or something.

It was great, considering i got on with them all.

That's great and I'm sure it is (honesty++) but I didn't do it at college and don't really want to go into 3 years so I don't see it as a feasable option.

Beh?

Zombies Ate My Neighbours 08-20-2007 02:25 PM

Oki oki, sounds good.
