:lo: You crazy spam whore...

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 05:02 AM
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Phantom of the Opera
To Tame A Land

...just about any "epic" song that was written completely or mostly by Harris will include some tough bass lines.
yeah, if you want a real challenge follow them live... to me "heaven can wait" have a thougher bassline, especially during the solos....

Josh 04-15-2005 07:48 AM
 You crazy spam whore...
 most of it was spam, i kept it as relevant as possible to each thread. and i have screenshots :)

school is so boring! nothing to do at the moment, don't leave for another 45 minutes, won't get home until about 4.15, 1 hour 35 mins away!

Deth 04-15-2005 07:49 AM

I don't think Rime is that hard. Long, but not really difficult.

The Trooper with 2 fingers though. That's different.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 07:50 AM

u know whats even more boring? doing nothing...:p atlest i can wait for money to roll into my acount and see the money for an fender p-bass is raising every 2. week :P its pretty exciting...:p

Josh 04-15-2005 07:52 AM

steve harris uses a fender p-bass doesn't he? (with custom strings)
the government pay me £20 a week to go to school, because my parents don't earn much

Deth 04-15-2005 07:54 AM

That was off-topic.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 07:55 AM
That was off-topic.
it was not, cause Steve Harris plays a Fender precision, and im gonna use this one for an Iron Maiden Tribute band.

and yes, steve Have sig strings, but the only difference from the original strings is the colour on the end of them..:p

Josh 04-15-2005 07:57 AM

ah ok. i'm hoping to get an ESP Ltd. B-50 bass by the end of this summer :)

Deth 04-15-2005 07:58 AM

Actually, Harris' sig. strings are made mostly of nickel instead of chrome, making the tone closer to his. I've seen them sold near where I am, but they are twice as expensive as normal strings.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 08:04 AM
Actually, Harris' sig. strings are made mostly of nickel instead of chrome, making the tone closer to his. I've seen them sold near where I am, but they are twice as expensive as normal strings.
Harris strings is exactly like The original Rotosound flatwounds... and they cost exactly the same as Rotosounds other Flatwounds, Most people use 45 - 105 bass strings, steve harris have 50 - 110... even though thats still regular strings, but that and the colour is the only difference...

and they are Monel strings....

Rotosound RS77LE Jazz Bass and Rotosound SH 77 Steve Harris Signature Set are EXACTLY the same stings.

Deth 04-15-2005 08:11 AM

After some brief research, you are correct. I did read an article in Bass Guitar saying what I said though.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 08:12 AM
After some brief research, you are correct. I did read an article in Bass Guitar saying what I said though.
they are wrong... i have played both strings, so i know!

Deth 04-15-2005 08:26 AM

I don't have a subscription anymore because they suck.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 08:28 AM

i think bass player would be a safer bet...

Deth 04-15-2005 08:29 AM

I don't like that one. It's too dry for my taste.

ashman 04-15-2005 08:33 AM
ah ok. i'm hoping to get an ESP Ltd. B-50 bass by the end of this summer :)
i_sold_my_soul_to_rocknroll 04-15-2005 12:24 PM

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how "The Clansmen" and "Infinite Dreams" intros sound alike?

ashman 04-15-2005 01:21 PM
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how "The Clansmen" and "Infinite Dreams" intros sound alike?
'Tis true, they do recycle a lot of riffs...the good ones thoug :D

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 01:24 PM

if you play bass, play the "Number of the beast" intro riff backwards and see if you can recognize...;)

ashman 04-15-2005 01:27 PM
if you play bass, play the "Number of the beast" intro riff backwards and see if you can recognize...;)
Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 01:28 PM

ashman 04-15-2005 01:46 PM
indeed
Huzzah...

I noticed that the other day :p

vashts80 04-15-2005 02:49 PM

Something I noticed about DT's cover of the NOTB album, on NOTB (song) LaBrie's scream sounds almost exactly like Bruce's on the album version.

Eddie, how did you find out that NOTB bassline from the intro backwards is the Clairvoyant intro?

YDload 04-15-2005 04:05 PM
Eddie, how did you find out that NOTB bassline from the intro backwards is the Clairvoyant intro?
can't you tell? or do you need to play bass to get it?

i thought it was pretty obvious

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 04:08 PM

someone told me along time a go.. so i tried, and yeah, it was corect :p

Josh 04-15-2005 04:26 PM

i never really thought about it, but now i've listened to the songs again it does seem pretty obvious.

thelittledrummerboy 04-16-2005 01:58 AM

When is the next part of the history coming out, most likely after the tour. Speeking of the tour, do you think they will bring out a live album of the early days. Would be great if they did.

ashman 04-16-2005 04:08 AM

Possibly, it would be cool.

GurS 04-16-2005 06:32 AM

I doubt it. I mean, think about it - BNW tour, live album. DOD tour, live dvd. I really doubt they are gonna make release live fodder from three tours in a row. That would be stupid, and I doubt Maiden would do that unless there is a huge want from the fans for such a thing to be done - I can only see two reasons to do it, you see. A) For the fans, and B) for the money. Seeing as they are not likely to do it for the money, if the fans don't want it it ain't gonna happen. If it DOES happen and the fans don't want it, I'll lose a lot of my respect for Maiden.

Janick-MurraySmith 04-16-2005 06:32 AM

I love murrays playing and i perfer listening to maiden then clapton but i do think clapton technically is the better player

I don't. Prefer Murray myself.
I love murrays playing and i perfer listening to maiden then clapton but i do think clapton technically is the better player
i agree with that. clapton i think is a lot better than murray, but i'm starting to like listening to murray more

ashman 04-16-2005 07:47 AM

Clapton is a very emotional player, but he doesn't really try new things anymore...But Murray is a very experimental guitarists, he tries a lot of new styles .etc but he does only use the same key over and over and over over again...
