Bought this for $1. Not bad, but not what I expected at all. Pretty dark album, even for GOF.[/QUOTE]

It's a good 3/5 I think.

Generic Flipper falls between 3.5-4.5 depending on the mood you're in.

Tangy zizzle 09-09-2005 04:05 PM

But you're a Melvins fan...

Alt/Indie is a MASSIVE catch-all category including everything from Radiohead to Joy Division to Belle & Sebastian to the Killers. Alternative and Indie as genres alone are also vague descriptions which hold countless bands that can sound nothing alike. The bands I listed are all very good though. :)

Sparta is would generally be considered alternative (along with many other things), yes.

Alt/Indie is music like REM and the theme song to Pete and Pete.

Or in general, any music you would play to try and impress a girl is probably alt/indie.

Zmev 09-10-2005 02:06 AM

Nirvana were a cool indie band, try starting there.

Anyways, I now see why Captain Beefheart is liked so much, took me long enough.

Yeah, it is.
I found myself tapping my foot psychotically to Megaghost without consciously instructing myself to.

Bukowski 09-10-2005 10:05 AM

dEUS are Belgian band...they're an alternative rock band, but they're very original and creative, and mix up a lot of styles in their music - it's pretty layered stuff. They've got a cool sound they can call their own, and I recommend you check them out. I'd upload something for ya' if YSI hadn't closed.

Anyway, they're releasing a new album very soon (sometime this month, no sure exactly when), which if it's like their previous albums, will be awesome.
