I finnaly got off all the strings hard ware and pickups oont his dman bass , now just for the frets :upset:.

BTW : Do I need a sautering (sp) iron? or can i use some sort of other heat?

Soldering...:thumb:

You can use another source, but it would be tough. A soldering iron is your best bet.

Should I leave the neck attacked when Im de-fretting it or does it not make a difference?

One of these days I'm gonna fix up my 4, after I buy a good 4. Which will most likely be a Geddy Lee from these guy a know, for only $400.

But on my current 4 I need to replace a broken nut, probably get new pickups, and defret/epoxy it because I really like to slap.

If it's a bolt on, I'd take it off just to be on the safe side.

Yup , its off. Well i now have the following removed

- Strings
- Back plate
-tunning knobs
-the neck
-pick guard


Should I take anythign else off before de-fretting it , or now to save me time ? I plan on painting the body tommorow

If you want to defret it, just take off the strings and the neck.

EDIT: Oh, paint it...take off the bridge, cover the pickups with something, take off the pickguard, cover your control plate and knobs.

Cover or take off anything you don't want paint on.

Gday, Im back from school. I got a Saturday detention today from my year level co-ordinator. A saturday is where i have to go in to school on Saturday for a few hours, in my uniform and shi[size=2]t[/size]. It sucks. I don't think I'm gonna do it.
