Most boards are scary.... I'm a member of a few other civilized ones though.

fatbandit 03-15-2005 03:31 PM

Yeh, but we want classic metal stuff. Solos rule. They would suit this music. Its kind of Pantera-ish. Imagine Pantera with no solos! And new Metallica has no solos, but isn't as good as old Metallica IMO (Though I like St Anger), and Kirk even puts solos into some SA songs live anyway, like Dirty Window and Frantic.

lemoley 03-15-2005 03:35 PM

well how about semi old metallica e.g the memory remains and until it sleeps etc all they have are like little fills

Tryxx 03-15-2005 03:35 PM

Yes...there are a couple others, but we're the best...for sure.

fatbandit 03-15-2005 03:50 PM

Actually, some very old Metallica has no solos. For Whom the Bell Tolls anyone? Anyhow, I still think the best Metallica stuff has solos. I love Master of Puppets, Seek and Destroy etc. And like I say, Pantera without solos is more what we'd sound like.

PaulSimonon 03-15-2005 03:56 PM

Wow, I was just asked to gig with a band over the summer. Yet another band for me!

For whom the bell tolls may not have a solo but it has a very nice bridge section and i suspect it is better than anything your guitarist has come up with (not trying to insult him or you just saying) or else you would not be in this situation

4 or five, depending on who youre talking to. This one would be a summer deal though, so it's really 3 or 4.

Well, I don't think tis necessarily better than anything he's come up with really. Its just a descending scale with a few trills that interlude isn't it? I don't remember how to play it very well. Its not exactly hard though... I happen to think he is a very skilled guitarist (who is poor, and still has a very VERY bad Stagg flying V...)

my stagg is pretty good, has a very growly tone to it almost warwick like.

neal_672 03-15-2005 04:48 PM

My mate has one, the pickups move, the neck is warped to hell (his fault partially) and well it's just generally appalling. Maybe there's some good ones and some bad. But in my experience they're awful
