What's this like? I recently got Illinois and man, is that a top album.
it's simply brilliant. One of my most fav. albums of all time. In this record Sufjan really shows how his religion influnces his music, and he does is so, so beautifully. If you want I can upload the album for you. Check the YSI thread in a few hours or so.

Wilderness - Wilderness
MP3 Sample: Track 2 Arkless

This is a very solid album. It sounds like the instrumentals of shoegaze/post-rock flung together with a deep voiced post-punker trying to move along as melodically as the music itself. Terrific vocals along with the pounding drums really drive the music and bring it all together. The overall result is a very tight, cohesive, and well made record. Definitely one I'm picking up on it's release (July 5).

Indie'd! 07-01-2005 05:44 PM

Well....

Regina Spektor (artsy Piano with very pleasant singing)
John Vanderslice (awesome indie rock, very talented writer)
Neutral Milk Hotel (catchy guitar work + incredible lyrics = awesome)
Bright Eyes (specifically Digital Ash in a Digital Urn)
The Avalanches (sample-heavy funk)
LCD Soundsystem (pretty much a self contained party)

YDload 07-01-2005 07:10 PM

I made a mix tape a few nights ago. It has a couple Mr. Bungle songs, some Slayer, Stevie Wonder, Led Zep, TV on the Radio, Death Angel, and of course the greatest song ever: "Wheel in the Sky" by Journey.

I was listening to that song on my computer and then when I went out to my car and turned the radio on, it was on the radio as well! Steve Perry knows no bounds!

Now I'm digging "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes. Fantastic song.
