:) its ok SLATANIC

I don't konw whether to get One night in Bangkok or Live Kreation now, i don't have the money for both :upset:

LordDargon 12-21-2004 03:29 PM

So, all Metallica/Megadeth fans need to get Blistered Earth. It's like metallica or 'deth, but far better.

Also, RCA sent me Torturer - The Flames of Purification. It is complete class. <3

RCA 12-21-2004 04:20 PM

Torturer \m/

They have another album out, I'll have to get it from Og.

They have 3 albums, Rise from the Ashes and an early one. I want them too :(

RCA 12-21-2004 04:32 PM

Three, that's right.

I'm getting "Oppressed By The Force" by them from Og as we speak.

HEATHEN To Enter Studio In January - Dec. 21, 2004
Reunited San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN are scheduled to enter the studio in January to begin recording their new full-length album. An early spring release through an as-yet-undetermined label is expected.

HEATHEN are currently in the process of booking a tour for 2005. Those interested in booking HEATHEN in 2005 can contact management at tambre@heathenmetal.com.

In other news, HEATHEN have been forced to abandon their plans for a DVD release dur to "legal problems." The group are continuing to offer refunds for DVDs purchased via PayPal. If you haven't received your refund, contact the band at info@heathenmetal.com.

As previously reported, HEATHEN recently announced the addition of bassist Jon Torres to the group's ranks. Torres is no stranger to the Bay Area metal scene, having participated in such bands as THUNDERHEAD, WARNING SF, ULYSSES SIREN, LAAZ ROCKIT and ANGEL WITCH. The band, who are currently unsigned, released their latest CD, "Recovered", independently this past spring. The effort featured covers of songs from QUEEN, THIN LIZZY, TYGERS OF PAN TANG and SWEET SAVAGE, as well as an original track, "In Memory of…" (written and dedicated to former band member Randy Laird and lead vocalist David White's brother Jeffrey).

Heathen are awesome, i have the first two albums which IMO are very good

RCA 12-22-2004 09:52 AM

Nice, I'm looking forward to that!

metal-militia 12-22-2004 10:09 AM

Sounds great, It'd be nice to see Heathen live to :thumb:

RavenousMetalist87 12-22-2004 04:07 PM

I think I've been listening to Seven Churches too much...

Just recently I was playing an old game (Star Fox) while listening to Sodom's One Night in Bangkok again, and this time I reached the last level but for some reason...the enemy's head looked like a demon...I wonder if that's part of the game or if I am eating too much cake again XD

Anywho, I definetely want to cover a few thrash tunes live:

Agent Orange
Coma of Souls
Fight Till Death

and some stuff from Coroner, Destruction, maybe one Metallica song, and a few from Exodus, Testament and I haven't decided on what else x_x

I think after that experience my brain's been funky all day...hmm...I'll get over it. That was pretty awesome though because I was like "wtf?" and started laughing because I didn't know if it was part of the game...

I didn't know you were in a band. Any way I can hear you play?
I didn't know you were in a band. Any way I can hear you play?
Well I'm stuck between 2:

One is supposedly a prog-ish one, but I can't stand to be around the guy who fronts it because he acts like he is the master of all guitar, but when he plays, the first thing that comes to mind is Kerry King XD.

The second one hasn't auditioned me at all yet, but they're like freshman so I'm kind of just going to see which one will accept thrash.

The first one which is fronted by a good friend of mine said "oh thrash is too easy...and slower metal is better".

Yet I get a heads up from our bassist that my friend wants to turn the band sort of "punk-ish".

The freshman want to do a "melodic-thrash" band, but I hope I can convince them to think twice...

If not, well, I guess I can try recording a few things on here. My new Peavey is just as crunchy as she's been since the day I brought her home...yep...great amp I got :D

Covering thrash songs live is so fun. My band covered Tormentor (Slayer), Black Magic (Slayer) and Symptom of the Universe (Black Sabbath) live. Good times.

What kind of Peavey did you get?
If you don't want to play in any of those bands, going solo is good stuff y0.

RavenousMetalist87 12-22-2004 06:05 PM

^ I got a Peavey Triple X head w/ the Peavey Triple X cab to match. I love the way I can get a great sound like early thrash and then fire it up to the Ultra channel which serves as my more extreme thrash channel.

The cleans? Oh...good for those nice sparkly intros to confuse people with XD

Have your friend listen to Watchtower's "Energetic Disasembly" album, and have him call me up and tell me that thrash is too easy.

RavenousMetalist87 12-22-2004 06:12 PM

I shall listen to it too since I am in need to expand the collection of thrash XD

I can't remember how many CDs I have left on the list that I made...

/writes note to listen to Watchtower's "Energetic Disasembly"

The other thing he says about thrash is that it's just "mostly rhythm" and since he sucks at rhythm (which I haven't gotten him to admit to yet), he thinks by trying to be a 'lead' guitarist will correct it all...

Well...he said Slower Metal is better because of the leads...well...I still think that some of the greatest lead guitarists in the world can play a steady and precise rhythm.

I'm just in search to do a soley thrash based band, not something mixed with the whole frenzy with involving melody like a lot of metalcore bands today...I want to do thrash...thrash is me...crap I better shut up before I annoy everyone XD

RCA 12-22-2004 06:32 PM

I've been wanting to start a thrash band too, but everyone around here is emo.

ThrashMaster27 12-22-2004 06:42 PM

I think everyone in this thread wants to start a Thrash band, but the scene isn't about Thrash no longer and it sucks. Most people are all starting Hardcore/Emo bands so it's virtually impossible. You could always do a Muhammed Suicmez and play all the instruments yourself....

RCA 12-22-2004 06:48 PM

All instruments myself? BRILLIANT!

/Guinness commercial

ThrashMaster27 12-22-2004 06:52 PM

Haha! Gotta love that advert however cheesy it was. Plus the fact the main charectors didn't really sound too Irish....Hmmm. Doesn't beat the VB adverts though! sheer class they are.

RavenousMetalist87 12-22-2004 08:30 PM

If we're all lucky, we can bring back the passion of thrash and hopefully get rid of the emo/hardcore junk that's poisoning the brains of countless lives.

Thrash = Good

I'll figure it out XD

sensitiveorgan00 12-22-2004 08:34 PM

Which brings me to this question. Do you guys know any modern day bands playing pure ****ing thrash? I'm not talking about old school bands still playing thrash, but new and upcoming bands that I might not be aware of.

RavenousMetalist87 12-22-2004 10:32 PM

Well the only band I can find that is pretty good is Vertigo, a local band from LA that has like 2 songs for listening to...I forgot their site but if I can find it, I'll post it here.

There's another band called Cereberus (or soemthing like that), but...

The thing with these modern day thrash bands (from what I can see) is that they try to sound COMPLETELY DIFFERENT in the vocal department. To me, they sound like their trying to be all "hardcore" or "imitate a death metal growl" very poorly...

Now if they sounded like Max during the Schizophrenia days or Jeff Becerra, I'd be more happy :)

ThrashMaster27 12-22-2004 10:39 PM

Yeah, I see a lot of bands trying to be Death/Thrash and failing terribly. Maybe it's just the production with some bands, but they always seem to be aggressive and theres no substance to it....I dunno! strange days.

RavenousMetalist87 12-22-2004 10:59 PM

^ Definietely.

Lets hope the new albums from the German masters of thrash (Destruction, Kreator and Sodom) teach our next generation of bands a true way to still thrash and be well at it.

JMetallica 12-23-2004 12:48 AM

They wont. People are too busy listening to Opeth and Dimmu Borgir.

NP: Agent Steel - Taken By Force

metal-militia 12-23-2004 07:28 AM

Jmetallica's right. Out of all the people I know who like metal only one of them knows about Enemy of God and thats becuase I told him. Decent bands aren't getting the attention they deserve becuase some people will just listen to Kerrang and wank over Slipknot and other ****ty bands.

Apocalyptic Raids 12-23-2004 08:13 AM

Dargon, is your soulseek LordDargon or Lord Dargon, because i added both and the only difference is the one has about 20 more files shard than the other.

LordDargon 12-23-2004 08:29 AM

^^ As for that, it's Lord Dargon.
Which brings me to this question. Do you guys know any modern day bands playing pure ****ing thrash? I'm not talking about old school bands still playing thrash, but new and upcoming bands that I might not be aware of.
Yeah, only stuff that's been mentioned in here before though...

Violator
Dekapitator
Blistered Earth

I know a few other new death/thrash bands too. I don't know about you guys, I love all this new death/thrash that's coming out like Deathchain and of course Torture Squad (although they've been around for a long long time).

RCA 12-23-2004 10:36 AM

Aye, Torture Squad and Deathchain own. I have a chance to see them (Deathchain) live in a few months!
