finished work now.

a coach load of people turned up half an hour before the end of my shift and shattered my idleness.

and they were all from north wales. for some reason a glass is always a half pint and they have to refer to everything by its full name.

"I'll have a pint of carling extra cold"

"oh ok well i was just going to take your drink and put it in the oven but if its extra cold i guess i shouldn't"

/bitching
Well, if you went into a pub and said "can i have a larger please" and they give you a carlsberg when you wanted a Carling, your not gonna be best pleased are you.

As far as im aware, Carling and Carling extra cold are totally different drinks are they not.

Mr. Black 08-09-2007 01:56 PM

Yeah. If you ask for a Guinness, they giev you a Guiness, not a Guiness extra cold. Why do you think there are two different taps.

there's only one carling tap. we don't even sell it in bottles.

I don't know, at the end of a shift it starts grating on you.

and they're not really different drinks, they come from the same barrel, just pumped in differently.

Jev 08-09-2007 03:07 PM

Lol my granddad met the guitarist from Biomechanical.
Apparently he lives like 10 minutes away and does guitar lessons \m/

Mr. Black 08-09-2007 03:33 PM

How many Guinness taps are there?

Surf 08-09-2007 03:37 PM

one

goes something like

strongbow, guinness, brains smooth, carling, becks, stella, coke pump, budwieser, ales which switch around

i think

Mr. Black 08-09-2007 03:59 PM

Heh, strange. All the pubs near me have two Guinness taps.

Pastorius 08-09-2007 04:57 PM

You guys are just riveting :p

Jev 08-09-2007 04:58 PM

I'm going on a barcrawl for my birthday.
Anyone nearby can come if they buy me booze.

Surf 08-09-2007 05:03 PM
Hmm, a lot of pubs seem to sell Beck's now. It's a good thing.
Becks is a good thing.

Pro tip: let the tap run for a split second before placing the glass underneath or you'll get too much head.
Heh, strange. All the pubs near me have two Guinness taps.
Just one extra cold. Extra cold tastes better anyway.
You guys are just riveting :p
I could also name all the ales, but I felt dull enough as it was. :(

Pastorius 08-09-2007 05:07 PM

The pub I worked at must have sold about 70% just Carling.

Surf 08-09-2007 05:13 PM

yeah, same.

£2.50 for a pint is alright.

I miss uni prices. £1 a pint is so good.

Pastorius 08-09-2007 05:14 PM

£2.10 where I was working.

Yeah I spent about every night down my hall's bar last year. There were 6 halls all in a cluster, and each hall had it's own bar.

Surf 08-09-2007 05:17 PM

Ours worked on a happy half hour system.

From 8-8.30 9-9.30 and 10-10.30 it was a point a pint, all other times it was £1.65. Just meant a mad rush to the bar as the hour struck.

I've got to find a way to sneak back into the hall bar this year. The guy who ran it was weird. He hated students ffs. But for some reason he loved us.

You were in Bristol right? Which halls? I stayed in Churchill (I think) for a night for a gig once.

Pastorius 08-09-2007 05:19 PM

Wouldn't be hard to get into any of the hall bars near me, all you would have to do is walk in. But you'd be a weird outsider. Our main Uni Bar is in the union, and you have to show ID to get in, so that would be harder.

Surf 08-09-2007 05:26 PM

We had to show our hallcard, the one that got us dinner etc. You could sign guests in as well.

We shared our bar between about four halls. Not very big halls though. My room was about twenty feet from the bar, which was nice and convenient.

Dr Hooch 08-09-2007 05:56 PM

Pastorius 08-10-2007 05:14 AM

Im not sure tbh.

I saw them a few months back when they supported severe torture. I knew nothing of them before i got there, really.

Except that they cover painkiller.

Untitled 08-10-2007 11:16 AM
