Whats your workout schedule?

2muchket! 08-05-2007 11:13 AM

Runs, Curls, Weights, Burpees, Chin-ups, Bicycle crunch and squat thrusts.

Chin-ups are good because they overall promote some growth in biceps.

Mexican Bandito 08-05-2007 11:15 AM

thrusts

they're naughty.

Found out at work today that we're having another fundraiser in a couple of weeks time. This time it's superheroes.
I'm planning on making a Super Z costume :upset: the lamer and more homemade it looks, the better!
'sup?

Chin ups suck for biceps.

Stick to hammer curls, bicep curls and isolation curls.

What weights and exercises are you on? reps? sets?

Im pretty bored here, its been an absolute scorcher today. Feeling very lethargic atm but ive got to drive somewhere in 40 minutes.

2muchket! 08-05-2007 11:26 AM

I've just started out with weights and do 10x3

e.g. 3 sets of 10 reps/

Squirrel 08-05-2007 11:31 AM

For muscle gain you'll want to do 3-5 sets of 6-8 reps, with those reps being the most you can physically do per set.

Take out the chin ups, theyre expending energy for no real yield.

Take out burpees and thrusts for the same reason and just do deadlifts or squats instead.

Hope that helps.

2muchket! 08-05-2007 11:33 AM

Cheers. I will do. Plus I feel like a twat when doing burpees.

Squirrel 08-05-2007 11:38 AM

 i feel the same, that and skipping but i have to do a lot of that for boxing.

Just google for exercises and see which you like; some are good for some people and bad for others. Try them out once and never overload yourself. Relax, breathe and get your technique right.
If you dont like it, find another exercise that works better for you.

Mr. Black 08-05-2007 01:20 PM

You a Boxer, Squirrel?

Squirrel 08-05-2007 02:13 PM

Aye.

Initially for the fitness but i've always enjoyed watching. I started about a year back now, thats why i started the weights really. That and i enjoy doing them and am aiming for a better physique.

Mr. Black 08-05-2007 02:23 PM

Yeah, my friend does it for the fitness. You watch Amir Kahn the other day, good grief.
I watched the Thrilla in Manilla a few days ago too. Joe Frazier is a fucking monster.

Squirrel 08-05-2007 02:30 PM

Yeah I saw Khans fight, i was rooting for him to lose tbh, i really dont like him. He's moving up in my estimations but i just find him very over-rated and he things he's the be-all-end-all of fighters. Heaven forbid he fight an opponent above 'meh hes ok'.

The thrilla in manilla was excellent yeah; frazier has one of the strongest wills of any athlete or even person ever. He really gave it his all, i dont think anyones ever tried harder at anything ever.

Quite short for a heavyweight too.

Untitled 08-05-2007 02:42 PM

Amir Khan, along with Ricky Hatton for that matter, both do my head in, for the following reason.

Them both being from Manchester, on BBC north west tonight, they have so much coverage of them for about 6 weeks, every night, before the fight, interviewing there girlfriends, 2nd cousins, best friend, and following them around training and stuff, and its just like "is there no proper news?"

Saying that, i think my cousin has met Amir Khan a fiar few times, as he boxes, they havnt faught though.

Squirrel 08-05-2007 02:51 PM

Far more interesting than watching cars go around a track 70 times.

Or watching one of the most dull, vapid, lifeless sports ever THAT LASTS FIVE DAYS

Mr. Black 08-05-2007 02:54 PM

Cricket? It's not that bad.

Not as bad as say, Darts.

Squirrel 08-05-2007 02:56 PM

Darts isnt even a sport :p

Its a game or a pass time.

Id watch darts over cricket though.

2muchket! 08-05-2007 03:01 PM

I love watching the arrows I do.

And it is a sport

F1 isn't really a sport but I love it none the less.

ChodaBoy 08-05-2007 03:05 PM

My brother met Amir a few times before he became famous. Dont really care though, boxing is just legalised fighting

Squirrel 08-05-2007 03:16 PM

You could trivialise any sport like that; F1 is just driving cars, football is pushing a ball around with feet for 90 minutes, cricket is standing about catching a ball for 5 days, golf is hitting a ball across a field into a hole, tennis is hitting a ball over a washing line etc

2muchket! 08-05-2007 03:17 PM

You say that as if it's a bad thing.

Personally I love a good scrap.

Untitled 08-05-2007 03:31 PM

Cricket is a great sport, can be boring to watch, but if you know whats going on its ace, 5 day cricket is the purest form of the game as well, and the best.

F1, i love it, races are crap these days though.

Darts, ill watch it if its on, wont go out of my way to watch it though.

Boxing, i never watch, dosnt interest me, i hate fighting in all manors, sport or not, and its usually on stupidly late anyway.

EDIT - And Formula one is a sport, the forces them drivers are put under going around corners, constantly hitting 3 or so G's around most corners, for 70 laps, and the cars are incredibly hot, ffs, F1 drivers are some of the fittest athletes out there, but because they sit in a car its not a sport.

OTHER EDIT - I would say darts is a sport, yes nearly all the players are stupidly overweight, but its more a sport of skill then pysical endurance.

They're a bit different to boxing though. Those you have mentioned are skilled competitions - boxing is punching another man until he is unable to stand up.

You may say that, and I'm not defending the fact that Boxing is a hideously brutal game, unworthy of the title of sport to some, but a lot of skill and drive go into it, it's not like two guys scrapping outside a pub.

rocknrollstar5 08-05-2007 03:55 PM

for boxing you need stamina, strength, agility, speed, co-ordination, balance and good reaction time. these make it a difficult and definitely skillful sport

True that, but in essence, it is just two people trying to punch 10 shits out of each other.

Just dosn't appeal to me.
They're a bit different to boxing though. Those you have mentioned are skilled competitions - boxing is punching another man until he is unable to stand up.
You need to be in peak athletic condition to be able to compete in boxing or any other contact sport.

i know, i dont really like the sport but it is physically demanding unlike pubs games. though pubs games are well good to play and watch:chug:

The_Passenger 08-05-2007 04:09 PM

I agree that boxers need to be skilful, athletic and all the rest of it. But I can't appreciate any of that because the boxers are using these skills to try and knock out another person. Maybe that's what the other people saying they dislike boxing mean.

Mexican Bandito 08-05-2007 04:17 PM

boxing on the ps3 is hard :upset:
