sabbath sucked without ozzy. personally i can't stand crazy train but i do love paranoid and war pigs. all of sabbaths stuff rocks (with ozzy) and I can't help but love Zakk's guitar work on his recent stuff. btw on the under cover album jerry cantrel does the guitar work.

blue3 03-01-2006 09:39 PM

Sabbath was still awesome without Ozzy. Dio is a great singer. Ian Gillan too. And I didn't know Jerry Cantrell played on that album. I still haven't heard it yet.

Darkness 03-01-2006 10:02 PM

So I did pick up Master Of Reality for like 9 bucks at the store today, I only listened once, and it seemed pretty good. Something weird, though, is on the back cover it says the last track is 3:08, and when I read that, it was well past the 6 min mark... Oh well, more Sabbath then expected = Good. :D

rippa32 03-02-2006 03:16 AM

Yes I have found you can't trust those time things, Iron Maiden especially. If you have the original record though the times printed on the label are usually about right.

Ozzy is my favourite sabbath singer, but i think to say that sabbath without him sucked is just plain ignorant (i know because until i heard the song 'TV Crimes' i thought the exact same thing)

also Crazy Train is awesome
Yeah, Solitude is really underrated. Master of Reality is really good, I don't have any problems with it being a tad short.
i think that album is just the right length,if it was any longer it would have dragged on abit.
although the song Orchid could ahve been alot better, the first few notes sound really good but after that it drops in quality, i know its just a 1 and a halve minute instrumental but still...

I agree, other Sabbath singers were good, but Ozzy had a different element to him, aside from his voice. I find the band overall sounds better with Ozzy, as if the band chemistry was better with him in it than not. I don't know, but there was something else he added that nobody else did. Heaven & Hell is a great album, my favorite without Ozzy. Other than that, I love Master of Reality, its got a very nice deep dark feel to it. Great to zone out to.

Don't, whatever you do. Ozzy might have been able to pull something like it off twenty years ago, but his voice is dead. The only bright side is Cantrell's guitar work, other than that, the tracks I've heard are awful. I'm sorry Ozzy, but your cover of Working Class Hero was torture.

Thor 03-02-2006 06:45 PM

Here's a new subject for the Sabbath fans in here: favorite Sabbath cover?

For me, it's Pantera's "Planet Caravan"

blue3 03-02-2006 10:19 PM

Faith No More's War Pigs and Megadeth's Paranoid covers are pretty awesome.

rippa32 03-03-2006 07:07 PM

I like Megadeth's Paranoid, I didn't like Pantera's Planet Caravan though.

Ladyshredder126 03-06-2006 06:12 PM

nofx did iron man and it sucked... what else would be expected though

classicrockman 03-06-2006 07:23 PM
nofx did iron man and it sucked... what else would be expected though
Wow, that would sound horrible. Even though "Iron Man" is probably Sabbath's most famous songs, it's still one of my favorites.

Magero666 03-07-2006 05:52 AM

Hm...I gotta say either Paranoid by Megadeth, or Snowblind by System of a down

shadow_stalker 03-07-2006 09:30 AM

Slayer did a pretty good cover of hand of doom (atleast i think slayer did it)

Clunge 03-07-2006 10:21 AM

Anyone absolutely love Solitude? It's by far my top Sabbath track, so dark...

BassMasterMike88 03-07-2006 11:38 AM

Ozzy added a mystical and almost Phycadelic(sp?) sound to Sabbeth, but Dio has a pretty powerfull voice.

temporary 03-07-2006 01:59 PM

I'd say The Bad Plus' Iron Man is a pretty sweet cover. I saw it on Geezer's Celebrity Playlist on iTunes, and he described it as one of the most original covers he'd heard. Faith No More's cover of War Pigs is good too, though its far from better than the original
Faith No More's War Pigs and Megadeth's Paranoid covers are pretty awesome.
the FNM version of War Pigs is awesome. i haven't heard the Megadeth cover or Paranoid, but their version of Never Say Die! is pretty damn good.
i like the Metallica version of Sabbra Cadabbra / A National Acrobat as well.
Ozzy added a mystical and almost Phycadelic(sp?) sound to Sabbeth, but Dio has a pretty powerfull voice.
i love Dehumanizer, Dio was awesome on it. possibly my favourite Sabbath album out of the ones i have.

rippa32 03-08-2006 03:10 AM
Hm...I gotta say either Paranoid by Megadeth, or Snowblind by System of a down
SOAD did snowblind? No offence to you but that would probably sound bloody horrible.

shadow_stalker 03-08-2006 07:25 AM

Snowblind by SOAD is one of the worst sabbath covers i have ever heard, its right up there with weezer's war pigs *shudders*

blue3 03-09-2006 12:26 AM

I've never heard either of those covers.

Brew 03-09-2006 06:10 AM

SOAD actually did a good job with the cover, they made it an original cover rather than just play it almost exactly like it was originally.

BassMasterMike88 03-09-2006 08:15 PM

^
Brew has a point here shadow_stalker, Systems cover added new sounds and tones that displayed their creativity rather then just bumbling to play straight through a cover as Weezer did.

dr._feelgood 03-09-2006 08:54 PM

Faith No More's version of War Pigs is awesome, too.

TojesDolan 03-09-2006 09:07 PM

The whole thing on the cover, in the words of SOAD themselves, is that they wanted to add a little "salsa" flavor to the song. And probably they did a good job at it.

Anyhow, The dresden dolls cover of war pigs is great too.

pigonthewing82 03-09-2006 09:29 PM

Not many people may agree with me but I really like War Pigs off of Just Say Ozzy. I think Zakk really does a good job (whitch is supprising to me since I don't really like Zakk's guitar work for the most part) and Geezer is on bass, and I always thought Geezer was awsome.

rippa32 03-10-2006 03:57 AM

Does anyone have that Snowblind cover for me to download? I should probably hear it before passing judgement.

Im not saying that it wasnt an 'interesting' cover im just saying i though it was balls

temporary 03-10-2006 04:46 PM

Ugh, Weezer covering Sabbath? Thats just plain scary.

themaninthebox 03-10-2006 10:13 PM

yeah.. i like weezer and all but i have a feeling that that would be disgusting

I also like Faith No More's cover of War Pig
