I don't really know. :p

I don't particularly care about my bands and their religion.

Dream Theater are Catholic/Jewish. Tool are...well, we don't really know what Tool are, it's hard to tell.

As long as they make great music, it doesn't matter to me :thumb:
Obviously it doesnt matter but it has always made me curious i dont know why but just has.

The JoZ 04-19-2005 10:45 AM

Oh yeah, back on to the backing tracks for a minute...

My neck is really, really, sore after I slept on it wrong...about the only thing I can do is sit and type, and even that isn't done very comfortably, or well...

I do have my four string back, but until my neck is better, I can't play bass (or drive, or move very well for that matter).

So, don't worry all of you wanting the rest of those tracks, I'll get them to you. But it may not happen today, or even tomorrow...

No problem man thanks so much for that I finnaly have got the right rythm for Sober because of them so now we can practice that (me and my band we have alread nailed the patient and stinkfist  )

But on another note I was flicking through a magazine and i stumbled on something interesting it was about a perfect circle (im not a big fan but interesting snippet)

Its about thirteenth step and bily sheds some new light onto it I will post it in one second...

bassist-bmxer 04-19-2005 10:57 AM

I could record schism if you want, but I couldnt put a drum track to it.

Rothmans 04-19-2005 11:03 AM

Well here we go:

Interviewer:
How does "Thirteenth Step" differ from "Mer De Noms"?

Billy:

"For me personnaly, the only thing would be that it's more organic, a little less
dense than last time. Things that i'm more inspired by today would be Cat Power, or Interpol. Things like that. Thats what I find myself listening to."

Interviewer:
What does the title mean?

Billy:
we've got a lot of friends in AA or 12- step programmes which none of the band are in and the 13th step is preying on somebody, or being preyed on
by someone who sees another person in their vulnerable state, and while they're trying to rid themselves of whatever demons that are going on, they've now got this new predator out there who sees the vulnerability open up.

Interviewer:
What feelings inspired the album?

Billy:
"I wanted to go into this record with more of an optimistic approach. I war writing from the feeling of 9/11. There was so much darkness, and [it was] such a heavy time, and it seems to be whatever is happy in my life I want to rebel against that particular feeling of comfort, of control you have to be comfortable with uncertainty. I felt a loss of control."

Sorry if there is sloppy grammer or spelling it just got a bit tireing or if anyone cares about it.

I kind of thought thats what the title meant, because in the episode of "Family Guy" where Y2K destroys civilization, Peter walks out of a liquor store called "The Thirteenth Step", or as my buddy calls it, Retox.

i finally got MY bassist to learn jimmy. He almost has it down, it just sucks that im the only who knows when the changes are and how many bars to play each riff for. I cant wait to hear his rendition of that.

ndude77 04-19-2005 02:07 PM

Hey,
Does anyone else ever feel like when they listen to both the Grudge and Lateralus its like a religeous revalation. I listen to Tool almost everyday, but still with both of those songs, it gets me everytime (especially the poly-breakdown in Lateralus with Danny Carey's rediculous drumming, and then Maynard comes in...omg its almost orgasmic)
Just wanted to know if i was alone...

Sounds like a very convienient excuse to me :amaze:

No matter, I'm having a lot of fun with Stinkfist right now. I didn't realize how sketchy my timing was on the solo section, and this is definately helping.

I lose

Marshall MG30DFX with Jackhammer Distortion pedal.

And I use the in built flange effect.

Hence, my tone = crap

Darkness 04-19-2005 05:25 PM

^ Eh your setups probably still all own mine.

I used to have that, except I had a MG50DFX, and it definately wasn't the best. It is however, far far superior to what I'm playing now. :upset:

mudvayne420 04-20-2005 12:01 AM

I bet i own the crappiest Bass and amp then all of you.. it's a corsair and my amp is only 15 watts so i can't play that loud with my band, and i own a digitechBP80 and a distortion pedal forgot the brand but it's pretty good

dUSK 04-20-2005 01:01 AM

Well, I play guitar, and I've downgraded from my Epiphone LP to a bottom of the line Squier Strat, on which the 14th fret on the D string is fucked.

My situation with amps has been my MG50DFX (which shat itself during a jam on day), it got replaced with a Behringer 100w something (?), and now I have nothing except for a pair of headphones with the most pathetic overdrive you've ever heard. :upset:

clearvision 04-20-2005 06:42 AM

I play a yamaha pacifica, it's ok i suppose, through my zoom. My amp is a ten watt aria, piece of sh!t...i just use line in to record and headphones to jam. And since i have no band, i don't need to play live...

Objectives -

1) Get a band
2) Get a better amp/setup
3) Get the band to play tool

kurrpt 04-20-2005 06:49 AM

i have a Les Paul classic, played through a crate 120 watt half stack, through the digitech GNX4. I initially bought my metal zone boss pedal for TOoL, but i decided that the GNX4 can produce a much better distortion sound, that you can get almost exact to any track ur trying to cover. My new guitar (schecter c-1 FR) comes in the mail tomorrow :-)
