HAHA no jos, they WONT insure it.
They wont insure anything over about 1800 until you're over 25. Oh noes, does that make you wrong? I do beleive it does. |
Ownd.
But Jos is gonna get you back. |
I agree * grabs popcorn * ?
|
Did you go in person to see if they'd insure it, Phil?
HAHA no jos, they WONT insure it. They wont insure anything over about 1800 until you're over 25. Oh noes, does that make you wrong? I do beleive it does.
Sorry. You are. Perhaps that company won't insure YOU. That's you. I wouldn't insure you for a tricycle myself.. but that's besides the point. There is no law that states in the UK, you can not be insured under 25 for a car with an engine larger then 1800cc. Insurrence companies will insure anyone, for anything, it's only a matter of price. Coming from somebody who finds living on min wage "comfortable", it's really no wonder you can't find somebody to insure you. If you lead a different life style, had a different occupation and income, there's no doubt it'd be different. And assuredly, if you drive to some rich part of town or the country, you will find rich kids driving exotic sports cars and large trucks. It's true in every country, and most certiantly yours. I'd recomend doing some research, deals particularly with 18-25 yr old drivers in the UK - http://www.insureyourmotor.com/ If you walked into a mercades dealership there, I'm sure they wouldn't sell you are a car. It's not that they don't sell Benz's to people your age... they won't sell one to you. *Did some quick math. 1800cc is 106 cubic inchs. Now I can relate.. you are saying no insurrence companies will insure a car with an engine bigger then 110 cubic inches!! WHAHAHAHHAA HAHAHHAHA That's means insurence companies won't insure any car larger then a 4cyl engine in the UK. So everyone under 25 in the UK is driving around 4cl engine cars? AHHAHA I don't think so.... My truck's V6 is 262 cubic inches, that's 4300cc... and I don't even have a BIG engine. BTW - that's a tiny V8.. |
take some airborne and drink alot of caffine and don't sleep.
go |
just
don't sleep. and suck up the cold. Take it like a man. Personally I wouldn't go, because I'm anti-social |

i love you mx

Use that snoring stuff you squirt up your nose to stop you from snoring if you're that worried. (Think of it as snorting some nice herbs)

Jos, it's not to do with laws, but just in general, 99% of British insurance companies won't insure anyone under 25 with cars over a certain sized engine capacity. Insurance on this side of the pond can be £2000 for a 1.6 or similiar, and I know people who pay up to £4000 a year, just because they mod their cars (which raises the cost) and have a slightly bigger engine.
There's so many accidents involving young people that most insurance companies just wont touch under 25's with powerful cars. |
jos, i know its hard, but accept you are wrong...
i can arrange for psychiatric help if its that damaging to you... |
I was guessing at the engine sizes. From researching:
Its a 12 cylinder, 5343.00 cc engine. |
Lol, I just tried to get a quote, being 18 with no years of no-claims bonus, and it redirected me to another site, telling me that I didnt fit their acceptable terms. Oops, and the same story on the site it directed me to. Getting insurance for anything can be hard in the UK, at this sort of age.

I disagree. One of the girls that came yesterday has been clean for exactly 2 years as of today, and the other for just over a year and a half. Sure, they both relapsed once, but they're not really in the position where they'll easily slip back into it. They're going around to a different place every friday to give talks to kids, with a cop and an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Comission worker tagging along, and they keep in close contact with the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Comission worker. They go regularly to the hospital to get blood tests done to see if they've been slipping some when those around them aren't paying attention. They seeked help, and help is readily available to keep them away from falling back into it. I asked them a bunch of questions, as they came half an hour early and didn't know anyone here, then they stuck around afterwards and talked with me and my friends. Overall it was a great presentation. It wasn't a "every time you do drugs a cute little puppy dies" kind of presentation that has no effect on anyone, but it was a brutally honest educational presentation that actually effected me alot. |
jos, i know its hard, but accept you are wrong...
i can arrange for psychiatric help if its that damaging to you...
You can't. Because I am exactly right. It might cost more, but it's non the less available. Might be hard to get, but it's there. By the way, it's self defeating to say "they don't insure them... because accidents with them" If they didn't insure them, then it wouldn't be an issue would it? So obviouslly if there ARE young drivers getting in accidents with powerful cars, then there ARE insurence companies that cover them. Duh. I have a friend who lives in the UK. He's 24, he drives a BMW Z4 Coupe. He's got insurrence. He is pretty wealthy, but he got it. My Ex-GF is moving to the UK in January, she's bringing her car. She's 22, It's a Saturn 2 door coupe with a V6, nothing too sporty by American standards, but well over that 1800cc line. She's got insurence lined up for when she moves... |
I was guessing at the engine sizes. From researching:

HAha ya BIG difference...
|
I didnt say it was because of accidents with powerful cars, it's accidents in general, involving younger people, pushing the cost up, and the margin of capacity they will insure, down.
Try it yourself, since you seem so keen on doing your research. I just tried 5 insurance companies from the UK, and they wont quote me because of my age, let alone if I had a 5343 cc car aswell. Edit: They may well insure someone at 25, I couldnt be bothered to go through all those forms again. |
i think jos deserves some neg rep

Off topic but thats what this thread is about - Does anyone use Remo Fiberskyns on any of their drums?
I went to a recording studio a few months ago and there was this Vintage Premier kit that had Fiberskyns on the toms, not on the bass or snare. So if you do, what do they sound like. |
Why?
The point was simply, somebody under 25 can have a car with an eingine bigger then 1800cc and be inssurred. Nobody said it would take more or less work, or cost more or less. Phil flat out said nobody does it. And that's simply not true. It just might take more work and money. I mean, think about it for a moment - if you were wealthy, and came from a wealthy family. Do you think it'd even be an issue getting insurence for your Hummer? Or Benz? Or whatever it is you choose to drive? No. It wouldn't. Everyone knows that, that's why people dislike the rich. It might be a bitch for the average person. But that's just cause the companies make it so. |

What about all those rich fuckers who get ferraris for their 17th birthdays? Someone must be insuring them... |
