Who made the crazy soundtrack for Clockwork Orange?

Brain Toad 05-14-2006 01:58 PM
Who made the crazy soundtrack for Clockwork Orange?
Walter Carlos composed the classical arrangements on synthesizer. He originally wrote the soundtrack based off the book, then Kubrick used his songs on the movie soundtrack. He is now a she though and is known as Wendy Carlos.

She has also done synthesizer versions of Bach songs called Switched-on-Bach. And many other synthezier albums. She was one of the first people to use the Moog.

SantaDuJuan 05-14-2006 02:03 PM

Oh my God, I really want to hear her other albums.

Edit: What is a Moog?

Brain Toad 05-14-2006 02:07 PM

It's a type of syntheizer that is widely used now.

Carlos is amazing and so is that soundtrack. First vinyl I ever bought, but I didn't get to listen to it until recently because my record player was broken when I bought the record. It was really amazing on record.

I have Switched-on-Bach on SLSK, as well as the oringinal soundtrack that wasn't used in the movie.

That is what I would have liked to say, had I thought of it. Instead I wrote half a paragraph about drugs and drawing. Lame.
Well unblock me and etc. you're offline to me.
Blocking has nothing to do with showing offline, you probably have the wrong screename or my old one. There is no spaces anymore, just BrainToad, thought I may not have you on my list, so PM me.

Holy god, a friend of mine has a "Switched-on-Country" record, and they do old-school country tunes, and it's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. They have synths "singing" the vocals, so it's ****ing hilarious.

obese_breasts 05-14-2006 03:47 PM

Is it as ridiculous as Hayseed Dixie: A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC?

Brain Toad 05-14-2006 03:48 PM

It was probably a vocoder, Carlos used that a lot. Her work with it is really good. The country thing sounds interesting.

I have a bluegrass tribute to Led Zeppelin.

AndreTheHyena 05-14-2006 04:10 PM

Hayseed Dixie is obnoxious. Ironic bluegrass sucks just as bad as newgrass.

I dunno, it wasn't intelligible at all, it just sounded like a retarded robot trying a half-assed attempt at English.

Glitterati 05-14-2006 04:29 PM

Nick, that's an awesome movie. I refused to watch it for so long, because I thought it'd be a chick flick and my masculinity would be challenged, then I watched it and it was freaking hilarious.

When someone first told me about it, I thought they were talking about The Princess Diaries, but they convinced me otherwise and I saw it. Great ****ing movie.

Flagjacket 05-14-2006 04:41 PM

You Are Nick Young. You Pink Socked My Father. Prepare To Die.

coheneran 05-14-2006 04:56 PM

I just read the tiff you guys had in Folk-Punk Retards. I laughed, I clapped, I was amused at Kevin's expense.

"Westley: Why can't I move? Why am I up against this wall?
Fezzik: You've been mostly-dead all day."

Flagjacket 05-14-2006 04:58 PM

At my expense? gtfo nickel noser.

Wait for what though?

Something about fellatio, I forget. I'm watching Braveheart and Mel Gibson's accent is absolutely ridiculous.

"Ah lav ya, alweys have." I peed a little when he said that.

It's over now. It was shitty but the final torture scene was wonderful.

They played in my city not that long ago, they were supported by Viking Skull which I found amusing, the fact that my Dad went was even more funny

AIRIC 05-14-2006 05:19 PM

The end of Braveheart was awful.

I didn't like that movie that much. I thought it was boring and dragged on too long. Though there was some cool scenes, it didn't leave much of an impression on me.

I'm happy they didn't splash out on the battle scenes.

Your faux post count is misleading.
