I liked it when He listed the top Ten movies that are destroying america. Te Chronicles of Narnia took number one, and he ended up changing the title to the Passion of the Christ.
|
I think its funny he predicted the Oscar winners.
Anyone here heard Joan Baez's cover of Imagine? I only caught a little bit of it when I heard it but the part I heard was amazing she really has such a great voice. |
arg, I'm such a rory gallagher whore.
I've been listening to the 2 albums I got today pretty much ALL day. over and over. And I must say, they have cheered me up quite a bit from my previous devestation due to my (now) ex-girlfriend. |
I've only heard some of his songs, but imo he's the best new artist out there. I'm going to get his new one soon hopefully, and anything else of his I can get my hands on.
np: Starship Trooper
Matisyahu is amazing. My best friend introduced me to him a month ago and I've been on some sort of reggae binge ever since. I'm eager to pick up his new album and listen to it. /searches for Matisyahu show dates /plays Starship Trooper :) |

Stop saying that. By the way, our page count is now in the psychedelic 60s! |
Starship Trooper
Flying high aboooove I love that song :) Guitar Hero is like guitar for when you are sick of guitar. You don't have to worry about technical prowess, hitting sour notes, and hours and hours of practice and frustration. You just plug in, turn on, pick an awesome song, and just rock hard. You feel so good after playing, like you just accomplished something major. Plus it's like playing an air guitar for real, and everyone knows air guitar is more fun than real guitar ;) I just finished listening to Rush - 2112 and Pink Floyd - A Saucerful Of Secrets all the way through. Classic Prog++ |
I'm not very good at it though. Mostly because when I play guitar, I only use my index finger and my middle finger. Occasionally my ring finger but it's rare. I usually just go on medium setting. Crossroads is farely easy on it. Texas Flood and Symphony Of Destruction are my favorites.

The rest of my band is into that G3 shred, all-techinal stuff like Satriani, Yngvie, Petrucci, Vai, etc. Its pretty cool stuff, dont get me wrong, but sometimes ya just gotta forget it and rock out, ya know? Plug in, turn on, dont worry, and rock hard. Thats the ticket. NP: Yes - Perpetual Change |

Spanish Castle Magic is another good song in Guitar Hero. It was cool of them to stick an instrumental like that in there, I tihnk there was another too, I can't think of it though.
Admittedly, my favorite songs to play on there are Fat Lip and Ace Of Spades because I used to be obcessed with those songs when I was a wee lad. They are both still great songs; Sum 41 is a rather good band that gets labeled as pop-punk, and of course Motorhead = <3 |
Spanish Castle Magic isn't an instrumental though. Do they have any instrumentals on it?

I'm pretty sure it was just an instrumental in the game, I might be wrong. I don't have the game here at my dad's, so I can't check. I love the album 2112 so much, I really need some more Rush. I want to learn the main riff for A Passage To Bangkok, it's so Asian sounding yet still Western rock-like. Alex Lifeson is really good, as are Peart and Lee. Lyricist drummers FTW So does everyone think Schyma really has left for good because of the whole spam thing? I don't mean to bring the whole thing back up, I just hope it's not true :upset: Did you guys know that DDM broke with his gf? |
Did you guys know that DDM broke with his gf?
I had no clue and as a side note, so far I've decided this about the 3 rory albums I own. Tattoo>Blueprint>Against the Grain |
I hate rush. The instrumentals are ok but I really can't stand Lee's voice. All of them ar every talented though.
Schyma'll probably be back. He left another time and came back again. He just needs a break. Or he might be lurking and reading when we talk about him and just not posting. |

Your right they are talented, but I just for some reason have never been able to take more than 15 seconds of one of their songs. |
I could see Lee's voice getting on somebody's nerve, fortunately it sounds all right to me, probably because I don't listen to obscene amounts of Rush at a time. I'm really getting into The Band now, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is definitely awesomeness in song form.

The Band are definitely good. They show The Last Waltz all the time on the aboriginal network here in Canada.
I can see how people couldn't like Geddy's vocals, but I find that 99% of the time I can look past less-than-perfect vocals if the music is good. np: War - Low Rider  |
Low Rider is awesome
and soon it will be page 1969, the greatest year of all time....Abbey Road, Tommy, Woodstock. |
1970 was better.
:) |

I too can look past subpapr vocals but a lot of the times the music doesn't appeal to me either. Nice avatar by the way. I have the Complete Discography. |
1970 was better.
:)
1970? How? That was the year the Beatles 'officially' broke up. Of course, you had albums like In Rock and Benefit, and Plastic Ono Band. 1971 was better then 1970...Aqualung, Imagine, Who's Next. |

For the most part I like Geddy's vocals, though I agree they do get a little annoying at times.
I like most of the bands songs, but (ironically) I don't really like the vocals. |
I don't mind Geddy's vocals, though I see how they could irritate some people. 2112 is the only Rush album I have, I really need to get some more.
The Eagles aren't talked about much in here, what does everyone think of them? |

I agree. There was also T. Rex - Electric Warrior. But '69 was pretty good, too.
What caused him to leave?
He said last weekend we were spamming too much. He'll be back  |
Somebody should do a "this year in CR" post for every page. I would, but I'm not knowledgeable enough.
The Eagles aren't talked about much in here, what does everyone think of them?
The Eagles are alright. Nothing special. Rush is amazing. YYZ is so hard to play. It's almost all sixteenth notes. |
The Eagles are pretty cool, good mellow stuff. But, I never really got into them past their radio songs.
|
Meh, I like a few Eagles radio songs (especially Take it Easy), but I've never bought any of their stuff and don't really plan on buying any of their stuff for a while.
Wow. I saw Tea Leaf Green last night and it was just amazing. One fcking long show. They didn't even come on stage till 11:00, but the opening band U-Melt was pretty great and entertained me until then. But wow, Tea Leaf Garden blew them away. Everything was just awesome. Fabulous keyboard solos, guitar solos... awesomely talented band. Plus the basssist looked exactly like Sylvester Stallone which was pretty cool. But he was also ridiculously awesome and played a few sweet funky bass solos. These guys just jammed forever. Plus they did an amazing cover of I've Got a Feelin' to end the first set. That's one of my favorite Beatles songs ever, and their cover was just amazing, maybe better than the original . And then they played Just Like Tom Thumb blues and they're final encore was... Emince Front. It was sweet. And their original songs were at least as good as the covers. Awesome show. Insane. And the crowd was nuts too. There was some burnt out hippy guy wearing a Japanese komono and a bandana headband thing. Man that guy was hilarious to watch. Stoned out of his mind. Actually worse than that. Probably on acid or something. But yeah, the show was incredible. Everyone see them if you get the chance. Tickets were really cheap ($15). I hope somebody taped the show so I can download it. |
