Yes, a Tool shirt that dosen't resemble a sexual organ.
I would constantly get comments for the back picture of the nerve on my Lateralus sweater. It looks a p u s s y.
A lot of the other ones resemblea male's too.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-20-2005 06:14 PM

Good news

1. Aiden is a badass

2. I'm getting DSL.

3. Ben, when you're done resplicing Lateralus together, you can YSI it to me, because I will have DSL. :p

Anyways, that site is freaking amazing. I gave up on beleiving in the Holy Gift, but this sounds far more synchronized and intentional. :D

Idiot Martyr 05-20-2005 07:38 PM
its amazing how some people's taste in music is so flawed
Yeah confuses me a lot too.

This thread grew like 4 pages in the day or two I couldn't get to my computer lol. Amyways, what's the deal with the layered Lateralus? And what's faith+1 talking about with the three separate songs in Ticks and Leeches? I always there was something weird about that song but never quite figured it out.

Awesome, I'm glad you liked it. I finished the series last weekend, it's such great stuff. I'll have ep2 up for you tommorow, or maybe really late tonight.

Oh and don't worry, that is the only fight scene that has transitions like that..

dont email him bull crap youll just be helping him break in his delete key

as i said before somebody took credit for his work but they didnt understand it so they created the holy gift......which is a pile of crap

Dude3 05-20-2005 09:35 PM

This website is awesome. I really like how he mentioned that the end of Leeches will probably connect to the first track of the next album, as it was suppost to be heavier.

im not sure if i like how you put that "supposed" i think they have pulled out far to many roots from ambience psyche stuff to be some straight forward rock band, and there not performing chopfests on the guitar so they cant be a real Prog rock band. i think it will come out how they imagined, as long as maynard still does it for Yohoo.

Ok, thanks.

Huber 05-21-2005 12:31 AM

I wanna here some of these spliced Tool songs. Lateralus always had some kind of...missing thing about it. Like every song has a question mark at the end.

YouGottaBeCrazy 05-21-2005 05:24 AM

Yeah, I'm dying to hear the spliced versions.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-21-2005 07:10 AM

Ill start uploading what I did now. Its not great, but I followed that site for most of it, and used my uber DJ skills ( :upset: ) to make some of the transitions work.

Things I found cool in it:

The way Faaip De Oaid fits in the long mellow part of Ticks And Leeches (perfectly)
The Parabola to Lateralus section (I messed it up, it shoudl fit the first note perfectly on the last harmonic)
Mantra to Parabol is pretty sweet.

Ill post as soon as its up. In the meantime, ill work on a personal re working, as I still dont like some parts of that one

YouGottaBeCrazy 05-21-2005 07:54 AM

I can't wait to hear the finished product. I hope Faith+1 can upload the Lateralus one. I'm more interested to hear how that sounds after he has "made all the pieces fit." It's such a cool idea.

Otherside 05-21-2005 08:42 AM

AJG, as promised:

Hey, everybody. This is my entry for the prog metal competition so far.

http://s38.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1WJVM0N138SN60NX7M4N6RISUD

Don't yell if we actually went back to being a Tool only thread, I haven't been here for a while and a half.

Moses 05-21-2005 09:10 AM

Feedback?

/Bump to get noticed.

Werny 05-21-2005 09:55 AM

Yeah I haven't posted here in ages.

Does anyone think that Disposition and Reflection are A LOT like The Sheltering Sky by King Crimson? Yeah without the mellotron or whatever it is, I know.

Moses 05-21-2005 10:05 AM

Anyone mind assessing my progmetal entry?

sexycakes 05-21-2005 10:05 AM
Feedback?

umm...

the majority of it is just off beat noise.
I kinda like the buzzing sounds in one of the parts.

Your drummer is off alot
Or you
Either way, it doesn't sound tight.

All in all, i think you tried so hard to be prog that the song doesnt even sound like a song. Dynamics are nonexsistant, and dynamics make everything.

just my humble opinion

dUSK 05-21-2005 11:28 AM

Did anyone else notice that on that Aiden guys site he quoted Maynard as James Maynard Keenan. I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. I always thought his real name was James Herbert Keenan, and Maynard was a name he adopted because he was a war hero of his or something.

Am I wrong?

YouGottaBeCrazy 05-21-2005 11:41 AM

You are correct. His real name is James Herbert Keenan. It was probably just a typo.

Magicaltroll 05-21-2005 11:50 AM

I always hear people call him Maynard James Keenan.
And yeah, I know thats not his real name.

dUSK 05-21-2005 11:53 AM

Ok, thats what I thought. It seems odd to me that someone so interested in Tool would make that kind of mistake. Thanks anyway guys.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-21-2005 11:02 PM

Ben, when you did the splicing and whatnot, did you add in the dynamic curves like Aiden did?

(I'm not sure if they're called dynamic curves, but I saw a couple of diagrams on the site, and it looked like he did some kind of wierd deal with the volume throughout each track.)

Futuro 05-21-2005 11:04 PM

volume envolopes is there "official name"

Adam Jones is GOD 05-22-2005 12:13 PM

I tried. i copied the diagrams exactly at first, then when i understood what they did, i messed about a bit myself. The end result was a half good, half original version, thats neither my own mix, nor the example demonstarted.

Take 2 on uploading starting now, stupid thing wont zip down.

And otherside, much thanks again, ill d/l and watch tommorrow. My friend will be very pleased, and we've even managed to get more people into it

Magicaltroll 05-22-2005 12:25 PM

So whos posting the spliced version of Lateralus up?

Adam Jones is GOD 05-22-2005 12:31 PM

Re read my post :p

Magicaltroll 05-22-2005 12:35 PM
Oooo ****, that'd be awesome.
Dont get your hopes up. I dont like most of it, but im uploading at least what i've done. When i get a new soundcard on the go, ill do a proper job. No sound hampers this process. :(

And nice av btw, good to see Tool fans still have great musical taste

clearvision 05-22-2005 12:56 PM

DJ Shadow owns, i got his albums yesterday...

Genre of the month is most definateley trip-hop....mezzanin, dummy and both shadow albums...what next?

Adam Jones is GOD 05-22-2005 12:59 PM

Trip-hop can be so hit and miss with me, some tracks off big trip-hop albums get me straightaway, and others are skipped quickly. Makes it hard to get into any particular artist. Shadow is slightly more consistent for my ears though, least his diversity stays within my tastes

Adam Jones is GOD 05-22-2005 01:07 PM

Oh, and to repay anyone who has uploaded anything to me, or posted in here for a while, or are just drop dead beautiful, look whats back up again

http://www.musictelevisionsucks.net

More tool videos ready to download. Im seeing if they work after getting Samurai Champloo down

Dried Muffin Remnants 05-22-2005 01:09 PM

Blue Lines by Massive and S/T by Portishead are good too.

But I LOVE Dummy, Mezzanine, and Endtroducing. There are so many recognizable tunes in it.

CV-- Is Shadow's other album as good as Endtroducing? As long as it's almost as good that's cool, because Endtro was brilliant.

clearvision 05-22-2005 01:14 PM

It's only had one listen, not as good as Entro but still top notch..

I'm yet to find a trip-hop song that matches teardrop though...

Private Press? Its not bad, but there are some tracks on there that grate on my ears. For recommendations though, its got

6 Days
Walkie Talkie
You Cant Go Home Again

Best tracks on it, good variety
