Bruce E Kinesis 05-30-2010 05:39 AM

ok I will youtube "meshuggah" and comment back my feelings

"Me' sugar - Bleed"

The production on the drums is so bad that I can only hear the snare and one cymbal and it sounds like he takes turns to hit them in fourtime

They seem to have made up for a lack of variety in the guitar by layering each part many times

I was expecting the song to be short, in the style of the hardhitting punk message, but instead found the song far outliving its welcome, rather like a 6 minute eurovision song contest entry

The shouty vocals were pretty good conidering how shouty they were- as Gil Scott Heron showed us, you can give an engaging vocal performance without focusing on melody. However it was not possible to distinguish the words which was a shame, since I'm sure there was some beautiful imagery

There was a man in the video with three arms, I thought he was pretty cool

Squirrel 05-30-2010 06:23 AM

That is regarded as one of their best songs I believe.

Which makes me dread to think what a bad Meshuggah song is like.

You're right though, its like 8 ****ing minutes of dun di dun di dun di dun dun di dun dun, pause, dun dun dun dn dn dun dun dun, shitty slow part, repeat.

And the vocalist only appears to have two modes -on and off. When he's set to on he just says rwargh ra ra ra ra rarghw bluuuuuuuuuuuugh.

Such a ****ing **** band.

Squirrel 05-30-2010 06:24 AM

Look up rational gaze (wtf that is meant to mean) if you ever need a cure for insomnia.

Or New millenium suicide christ (lmao) if you fancy a mental funeral.

The_Mop 05-30-2010 09:07 AM

Admittedly I've become really bored of meshuggah. Used to find them really interesting around Nothing era but everything since has been so incredibly dull, and kinda worsens my view of earlier albums.

Btw it's New Millenium Cyanide Christ, not suicide. But yeah, that track sucks.

Squirrel 05-30-2010 09:24 AM

My bad, either way it's a retarded title.

And a **** song played in K-standard or some retarded piece of ****.

AG 05-30-2010 12:08 PM

Today I bought a shovel. And I did some gardening.

We went from this:

To this:

And soon we will have a nice garden, with seperate area for Herbs, Vegetables, Flowers, a BBQ and seating area.

or pot, sell it, and buy herbs and vegetables from the money. :naughty:

AG 05-30-2010 12:33 PM

But that's illegal.

anchorhead is so awesome

mnemonic 05-30-2010 01:30 PM

squirrel, you mad?

AG 05-30-2010 01:37 PM

This is what she's gonna look like in 6 months.

Also thinking about painting the concrete floor, what colour though? Terracotta? White? Blue?

mnemonic 05-30-2010 01:42 PM

the proportions look a bit off, is that back bit big enough for a bbq pit and table+ chairs?

Bruce E Kinesis 05-30-2010 02:00 PM

AG: there's not enough room in that back corner. Better to put a long, thin high table along the back with some high bar chairs if you can find some aluminium ones; it'll look ****ing awesome and be a more effective use of the space. Even that would cost you the bit of 'path' at the back of the grass.

that or use the chairs on the lawny bit and just store them at the back.

AG 05-30-2010 02:01 PM

I edited the original photo to be how I want it.

I dry-built the bbq to show size, it's at the back...

mnemonic 05-30-2010 02:05 PM

i think it might work better if you cut the top 1/3rd off the dirt spot in the middle, and pave it like the rest, that way you have more open space for the bbq and the table.

actually, if you have the spare time + money, i think it would look really good if you pulled up that cement path, reshaped the grass bit in the middle to accommodate a bigger open spot in the back and perhaps wider paths up the side, and then laid down pavers.

then wouldn't you just be staring at a wooden fence if you sat there?

this, if you dont want to hack up the ground

AG 05-30-2010 02:13 PM

It's just a rental, if it were my property I'd deck the whole back 1/3rd.

I'm working on keeping it super cheap.

you'd sit sideways so you'd have somewhere for your plate but could still face the garden?

TBH if you want to be entertaining dudes AG you're gonna have to sacrifice some of your dirt patch. Either by eating on it, or by paving over it.

AG 05-30-2010 02:34 PM

The dirt patch is gonna be lawn anyways, so if it's ever more than the family we can move onto the grass.

El-Ahrairah 05-30-2010 02:51 PM

I can see you're incorporating my advice into your backyard design.

Bruce E Kinesis 05-30-2010 03:04 PM

FLOWERS (FOR THE WIFE)

this is 100% more awesome thanks to capital letters

Kuffuffled 05-30-2010 04:21 PM

Bruce E Kinesis 05-30-2010 04:34 PM

Squirrel 05-30-2010 04:55 PM

I'm seriously lolling at these pictures of your plan[t]s.

AG 06-01-2010 01:29 AM

Nice one killing the lod squiggs.

Á Bao A Qu 06-01-2010 02:58 AM

Sup lod, haven't posted in here for a minute.

Since I'm in the Guitar Center mailing system I got a Memorial Day gift thing for $35 so I went ahead and picked one of these up today:

http://www.amazon.com/Intellitouch-PT30-Classic-Clip-Tuner/dp/B0035XX9KM

Works so, so much better than my crappy little Korg. My guitar has never been so close to being perfectly in tune.

jaklyons 06-01-2010 03:40 AM

Having never used one, I've always assumed that clip-on tuners would be a bit crap. I use a crappy little Korg tuner as well, sounds like I should try one of those clip-on ones. Y'reckon?

Á Bao A Qu 06-01-2010 03:51 AM

I would recommend it. Since they detect the vibration of the string instead of receiving sound through a microphone, there's no way outside noise can interfere with your tuning. The arrows on the display make it incredibly easy to lock in the tuning you want, and it's got a lifetime warranty.

Best $40 I've spent lately.

Á Bao A Qu 06-01-2010 03:52 AM

Keep in mind though I play purely acoustic. I have a 12-string and haven't touched an electric in a few years so I don't know how well clip-on tuners work with them. It's the perfect acoustic tuner, though.
