fishbulb...how do you not get your other toms to ring when you hit your bass or snare or another tom?

I had my toms mic'd for a while, but i was getting too much ring in the mic's from all the sympathetic vibrations.

I've never got sympathetic vibrations ever, but I don't have tom mics though.

I actually noise gate them. I find it works quite well if you get a good one set up.

i muted the parts where i wasn't using toms, or when i was just hitting one tom at a time...

after that, it got tough so i stopped, it's quite obvious where that was.

you do, just not necessarily something obvious like your snare wires are being affected.

chippy...how do you suggest i handle the tom problem? noise gates, or something else?
