I agree. Travis does some pretty amazing stuff, but he isn't the best ever. I've seen some of Longineau Parsons from Yellowcard drum solos, and he struck me as better than Travis.
Not me, he's good, but not better than Travis. Nicko McBrain is a sweet drummer, in my opinion most likely the best, although no one would ever back me up on that..They'd say Zeppelin's drummer, or someone stupid like that.

yeh alot of drum forum people think all the old drummers are soooo good.... travis has alot of speed which makes him sound good... Check out the guy from Rush listen to yyz

dancetomdance182 12-17-2005 11:15 PM

Neil Peart is sick also. The Yellowcard drummer is a lot like Travis.

HitHardDrums55 12-17-2005 11:29 PM

im not a fan of neil peart (i think thats his name..guy from rush)...dont get me wrong, he's an amazing drummer! but i personally think his setup is WAY too big i think the 3 drummers alkaline trio has recorded with (glenn porter, mike felumlee, and derek grant) are extremely talented...theyre all really fast AND they add creativity to the stuff alk3 does...while travis barker on the other hand basically does the same style beat for more than half of their songs...ocassionally he'll throw in some latin or funk beat over a rock beat, and change up the bass drum...he does have good fills though...and he's only fast because he's been playing since he was 4 and he did almost everything possible for snare drum in high school that will definately build up some speed

so i hear mark can do slap bass pretty well?

10571z 12-18-2005 02:11 AM

ive never heard that ....??^^^^^^^

yourstruly 12-18-2005 02:18 AM

I've never seen Mark slap

10571z 12-18-2005 02:26 AM

can he slap pretty well though?

plaidbassbilly 12-18-2005 06:28 AM

Well...I don't think he ever slaps really, considering he plays with a pick. I could be wrong, but it would make sense.

10571z 12-18-2005 06:47 AM

thats what i thought... but this guy thinks he can slap

Untitled 12-18-2005 06:51 AM

He slapped a little on one of the videos for the production of the nS/t album if i remember rightly, he seemd to be able to do it ok. Id expect him to be able to he's been playing bass for 15 years or something.

TakeWarning 12-18-2005 06:58 AM

As if Mark Hoppus would be any good at slap. And Neil Peart is an awesome drummer.

HitHardDrums55 12-18-2005 12:48 PM

i know hoppus plays with a pick, but somebody on here said they saw a video of him playing slap bass and he was a lot better than people think since he has such simple bass lines with blink

and i never said neil peart wasn't an awesome drummer...actually i said he IS an awesome drummer...just said i dont like his setup, its too complex for my liking...but at least he knows how to rock a set that big

Bad Blood 12-18-2005 12:49 PM

I couldn't be bothered to listen to the whole podcast. : /

Pazz 12-18-2005 12:51 PM

Lazy Ben. I haven't got to listening to the podcast yet.

Bad Blood 12-18-2005 12:55 PM

It just sounds too boring if we don't even get atleast a preview of the music.

:(

FauxApathy 12-18-2005 05:00 PM

If you've been playing bass for 15 years, you at least know HOW to slap.... Even if you're not good at it. He uses a pick normally, so he's probably just average.

I think Josh Freese is Better than Travis, and that's still in the Pop-punk genre.

Bad Blood 12-18-2005 05:03 PM

He's never really had to be good for the music Blink has made. So i guess he's just made do with it.

10571z 12-18-2005 05:31 PM

The whole "TrAvIs SuXoRs wOrSeR dEn DiS gUy" thing gets really old, really fast, and has no reasonable outcome.

I got the Greatest Hits for Another Girl, Another Planet and so I'd have all their available albums.

Today I got Millencolin's Home From Home for $4. Good bargain I say!

That'd be a dollar for every good song :D

But I want the GH for the bonus DVD stuff aswell

plaidbassbilly 12-19-2005 04:11 AM

Oh...you don't think it's good? Oh well. I wanted it for Man Or Mouse.

That bonus DVD stuff goes for about 5 minutes. It's nothing to get excited over to tell you the truth!

Fire Away 12-19-2005 04:21 AM

From what I recall hearing it's Carousel and Whats My Age Again live recordings and Rock Show and Feeling This making of videos, and thats it. Am I right?

plaidbassbilly 12-19-2005 04:31 AM

It's the making of Feeling This, I Miss You and Down, and some live recordings that we've already seen on Urethra Chronicles 2 anyway...they could've done such a better job!
