"OMGZ long hair and ugly, he must worship the devil and listen to Metal"

Cant tell you how many time I heard that. Cause we all know fusion is the same as metal duh!
Though we can be fairly certain all the best players sold their souls to be so good.

i went goth back in jr. high but not for the "Social Circle" (because god knows i don't have any RL friends)

i suffered from depression and an abnormal perfectionism which was in part fuelled from the care and attention my sister needed when i was younger (she's blind and autistic and needs my parents' attention 24/7) so i grew up fast. really fast. like most males start getting to the acne/puberty thing in 7th-8th grade? i had acne in 3rd... i was 5'9 in 6th grade...
Anyway, i never really belonged with my peers because mentally i wasn't with them anymore. However beacuse of the way the school system here is setup i wasn't allowed to communicate with people on the same level of growth as myself. So i was stuck and depressed.
Somewhere in jr. high i realized that i'm a unique individual. There are no other David Conrad Nichols's out there. Not many people have dealt with the conflicts i have internally and externally. I started getting really into my church with volunteering a lot and spending a lot of time with service projects both through school and through church.
At sometime around 8th grade i think, i wanted to change the world's mind. I wanted to make people think twice and wonder what was going on. I dyed my hair red. I wore eyeliner and black nailpolish and baggy clothes. Why? because i wanted to appear the opposite of who i was. when i was at my service projects people would ask me "why do you dress that way?" and i would smile and say "when you first saw me did you think i was here to help you and protect you?" and they'd all say "not at all" so i could smile again and say "that's why you can't judge people on appearances alone."

here, i found pics.

one of my inspirations was this website... gosh i don't know if it's still there or not... http://www.christiangoth.com

anyway. I've lost the dark clothes and makeup out of laziness and i now shop for shirts on ebay and pants at american eagle (no one else sells 32x31)

but yeah... just because someone dresses one way doesn't automatically mean they are who they appear.

Chippy569 11-17-2006 12:21 AM

see, insensitivity and immaturity like that are what make this world a shameful place to live.

I stepped out on a limb and opened up a part of my history so that maybe, just maybe you would stop and think. I even put the lesson in simple writing; "you can't judge people by what they look like." and you completely brushed it aside, telling me to fawk off and indirectly saying that my opinions and my feelings don't matter.

because of your closed-mindedness and xenophobia and lack of empathy or acceptance of diversity, you're going to have a hard life in the future.

Unfortunately, most stereotypes are based solidly in fact. There are more weirdo psychopathic goth kids because its generally the people who have had really messed up lives that gravitate towards that specific sub-culture. I dont hold a strong prejudice towards people because I have met cool people from all of the different cliques, be it goth, emo, or whatever.

Futuro 11-17-2006 12:41 AM

My highschool was great.

Being the only rich white kid in my highschool I hung out with all the Really tall black people (IE. Basketball players). The spanish people were all dirty convicts. And the teachers were poor white democrats driving around in there Luminas. There was the chinese emo kid, he kept trying to slit his wrist but his depth perception is off because of chinky eyes, it just looked like he was stabbing the air.

Aaron 11-17-2006 12:43 AM

My highschool was completly white except for the exchange students. I was one of the three "poor kids" on a scholarship.

Chippy569 11-17-2006 12:43 AM

Futuro 11-17-2006 12:45 AM

i'm going to post some pics of the jingle hats i made, the china, that will soon be a jingle china, and the steel snare i fixed up some time sunday night or monday afternoon. maybe some pics of my set up as well. i got some nice tack lighting for my drum room and a new rug, so the pics will look nicer.

Electric Requiem 11-17-2006 02:30 AM

I think the snare and rug could use some jingle.
