The Beatles, no doubt. We'd have so much fun!
I wouldn't mind having a drink with Tom Waits some time.

I'm downloading some Stray Cats right now :-D I hope they're good. Of course they'll be good, it's Brian Setzer. Anyone like the Stray Cats?

np: George Carlin - The Ten Commandments.

I love Carlin.

BigTrav415 03-09-2006 06:54 PM
Do you actually own any albums... I mean downloading a few every so often but downloading entire discographys...? That is rediculous, and almost every post by you is talking about some new blog where you can download 100000 albums in a matter of seconds.
Well, it's better than being in the gray area of downloading music. I'm honestly tired of this idea that pervades everyone's minds that downloading some music isn't bad. The person who made thar music still isn't getting paid for it, it's still stealing. I think you have to be either completely against and therefore stop downloading any (copyrighted) music for free, or agree with it and download however much you feel like. I'll admit there are exceptions, like really rare music you can't find anywhere else, but I'm tired of hearing from my friends (Well, I only download three or four songs a week, so it's not that bad." I'm personally morally against it, but financially for it, and of course the almighty dollar always wins

I will admit that that is a bit excessive from any perspective, WttM.

robo2448 03-09-2006 06:56 PM

Yeah, I download rare stuff and stuff I don't have but I'm interested in hearing, and if I like it, I buy it if I find it in stores. But I've only downloaded a few albums recently because I don't want to kill my hard drive.

Never heard of the Stray Cats.

I couldn't pick one band, so I'll just say I'd like to be at Woodstock and hang out with everyone there. And if I had to pick one band, I'd go with Dylan. He's such an interesting guy and would be so cool to chill out with and talk to.

I don't download because I don't want to spend the money btw. I just download if it's something rare or something I'm interested in but don't know if I want to buy yet. Morally, I don't like people who download albums that are easy to buy and stuff, but I don't have a moral problem with what I do. If I did, I wouldn't do it. Duh.

PinkFreud 03-09-2006 07:01 PM

Stray Cats is the band that Brian Setzer headed wasn't it?

Jacaranda 03-09-2006 07:02 PM

I have no problem with it I just find that taking more then one album from an artist over the limit. I mean without the YSI threads here or SLSK there would be a lot of bands that I wouldn't have known about or really liked. Downloading should be more of a preview of the band rather then a whole review of the band. I download to preview not to collect entire discographys and blatantly steal 1000's of dollars in a few hours.
Downloading 1 album a week to downloading +10 albums in a day is a very large difference.

I can see where someone might download an album because of money problems but again entire discograpyhs is just ridiculous.

And downloading because it is rare even a dumber excuse. Its rare because: A) The artists isn't well known which probably means not rich. or B) Out of print. If "A" I have major problems with that, I would much rather download 5 Rolling Stones albums then download one Rites of Spring album. Although I can see where if an album is so rare that it costs an insane amount of money that downloading would be the best option. And even if its out of print you can find it. Even here I can find some out of print bootlegs or albums from various artists.
Meh, who am I to tell you whats wrong and whats right though!

jpj 03-09-2006 07:17 PM

I downloaded 13 albums today. I have no morals.

How do you get the free rapidshare account?

EDIT: Nevermind.

pigonthewing82 03-09-2006 07:21 PM
If you won a contest or something to meet and hang out with any band (during any time period) who would it be? I'd probably go with Pink Floyd, Syd era. Other good ones would be PF Gilmour/Waters era, the Dead in the 70's, and Zeppelin.
If I could be alive for only a couple of hours then die it would be hanging out with Dylan the time he smoked up the Beatles for their first time. But if I could hang out with only one band it would be the Jimi Hendrix Experience, though more Jimi than the others. Not that I wouldn't mind meeting the others, but I've always wanted to have a one on one disscussion with him.

Glitterati 03-09-2006 07:21 PM
Stray Cats is the band that Brian Setzer headed wasn't it?
Yeah, '80s rockabilly band.

Lunch 03-09-2006 07:22 PM

I don't see why I should go on a hunt and invest upwards of $30 for all these obscure artists I've never heard before and am just interested in checking out, rather than downloading them as "sample".

BigTrav415 03-09-2006 07:23 PM
I downloaded 13 albums today. I have no morals.
I envy you.

I'm waiting for WttM to finally post in here again like 3 months from now, saying he just got of juvy for stealing music  At least then it would be a little easier to swallow the bullshit stories that 95% of all HORRIBLE LITTLE LAWBREAKING KIDS!!1 will get arrested for downloading a Shakira song off Limewire

np: George Harrison - I Dig Love

robo2448 03-09-2006 07:26 PM

I don't have a 2nd e-mail address and I'm too lazy to create one so I don't have free Rapidshare. Anyone want to send me their username and password?

Jacaranda 03-09-2006 07:27 PM

I'd like to spend a day with Brian Jones, or a weekend. I'd probably end up hanging with Jimi, George Harrison, and Nico at any time during the day. Plus I might have the chance to chase Bob Dylan down with Keef' in my car. Oh the possiblities.
I just got a pretty sweet Bootleg of the Velvet Underground. Three discs, 90 minutes of Sister Ray alone (three different versions on each disc.) each disc about 78 minutes long. Schweeet.

i actually own a lot of albums, i can only buy albums from time to time as im always short on cash, and honestly, i could care less if its downloaded or not, music is music. and lately i havent been able to buy many albums.

and actually the blogs i posted are all for rare stuff that you cant buy in stores with the exception of one (dancingmokey)

and i only posted about 3-4 different times with blogs (just a lot at one post:p )

and i should mention im not actually downloading every rush album, just the ones i dont have, i hav about 7 bought ones, i should have made that clear, i worded that wrong.

Jacaranda 03-09-2006 07:36 PM

Well its now clear that when I assume I make an ass out of me and you!

I had to say that. And that was my mini-rant of the month. What'll it be next time? I can only wonder.

WelcomeToTheMachine 03-09-2006 07:37 PM

hey, you made a good point, and your right, i have no morals.

Guitar Hero is such a great game. It's got a ton of great CR tubes, and it's fun as hell. I wish I could find my PS2 memory card, I've had to start over everytime I started playing again :(

I've been really addicted to 2112, I'm gonna but another album of theirs, probably another of their 70's proggy albums.

Don't Fear The Jaccer (cowbell)

Glitterati 03-09-2006 09:20 PM

I'm downloading some Curtis Mayfield right now. I like, I like.

PinkFreud 03-09-2006 09:27 PM

I'm listening to the Minutemen again for the first time in a while and I'd forgotten why they were one of my favorite bands. D. Boon is such a great lyricist and songwriter. And they're all pretty great at their instruments. Maybe I'll do an FA on them, too.

ATM 03-09-2006 09:29 PM

DNOTD is such an amazing album.

PinkFreud 03-09-2006 09:34 PM

Nice avatar. Maybe next time you won't ask for one. Haha.

And yeah, that's a classic album.

ATM 03-09-2006 09:35 PM

My avatar is the greatest thing ever :-D

TheDMV 03-09-2006 09:38 PM

woah, how'd you get that avatar sluggy?

I've never really heard anything by the minutemen. they sound great though; it'd be cool if someone could send out one of there albums that's not DNOTD.

robo2448 03-09-2006 09:41 PM

Nice avatar there Slug.

np: Tea Leaf Green with Trey Anastacio- Freedom

Awesome jam. I'm seeing Tea Leaf Green tomorrow. It's going to be awesome.

Broken Arrow 03-09-2006 09:47 PM

I have one of Tea Leaf's bootlegs, it's pretty good stuff. They were opening for Gov't Mule for their fall/winter tour.

Yeah Mintuemen are awesome.

Favourite song by them: Viet Nam

ATM 03-09-2006 09:51 PM

My dad and I might go see the Derek Trucks band.

Seafroggys 03-09-2006 09:55 PM

who is that, may I ask (the avatar)

Illmatic 03-09-2006 09:56 PM

Whoever she is, she's like a 5 at best :-\

Glitterati 03-09-2006 09:57 PM

Freud, if you did a Minutemen FA, that'd kick booty. I made a thread about them around September and it reached like six pages

Geez, who did you have to suck off to get that, Slug?

I feel like I'm not posting here a lot lately, because there's not a lot for me to say. I try to only jump in when I have something to contribute. Hmmm...

np: Kool & The Gang - Jungle Boogie

Krabsworth 03-09-2006 09:59 PM

Slug, try putting an actual hot girl in there...?

Jacaranda 03-09-2006 10:03 PM

I totally think my avatar is the hotter of the two girls.
